Sure, stranger things have happened, but every bone in my body is screaming "BULLS#!+" when I read this: This is a rare December 16th 1968 custom made Ibanez guitar. It was made for a friend of mine back in the day when he was a player. 1968?!? A bolt-neck Les Paul copy with vines from 1968? I, frankly, don't believe it. First, the Ibanez "copy" era didn't really arrive until 1972 or so. Second, note the fingerboard - Jeff Hasselberg was responsible for getting Ibanez to square off the fingerboard ends and drop them close to the body like a real Les Paul, but that didn't happen til late '73 or '74. This guitar looks much like one I saw recently here in Ottawa - it sold for $450CDN (geeze don't I wish I'd sprung for it now :-) It was neat - a seventies Ibanez LP with vines - but "custom"? "1968"? I don't think so. This appears to be a grossly misleading representation. I hope to God no one actually bids on this thing... |
