My '81 AR100 Cherry sunburst Artist came minus its 'rubber' selector switch surround. I have managed to get one off Ebay but it's a sort of very pale grey colour. I'm pretty sure the one on mine should be white or ivory. Just how many colours of these things exist. I make it black, white and pale grey - that true?

Also, when fitted, due to the top carve on the guitar, the knurled nut tightens down on one side of the rubber much harder than the other, is that right, or did Ibanez fit a packer of some sort under the switch in the cavity to correct the situation?

Also, is there a proper tool to tighten the knurled nut with two flats that fit into the slots, or do you just manage as best as you can with fingers and/or a screwdriver?!

Stewart-MacDonald has a tool but I don't know if it will work with the rubber surround. Email their techs about it. I tried to copy and paste the web page with the tool but it showed up as text?????

I have a Stewmac tool for knurled nuts on Gibson style guitars. It has a collet that clamps onto the nut. But with the Ibanez rubber surround, you dont really have access to grip the knurled area, hence the two upward facing slots for use with a dedicated tool. I suppose at worst you could use a screwdriver to force the nut around but it's a fiddly job and you could easily slip!
