A question for those who have the 2700 or 2710...

Last night was the first gig with the guitar that I recently restored. Although we had to play louder than usual because of the HUGE crowd, my 2710 was screaching!
The 2618 had to be used. I used to have an MC100 with the super 77's, and I think that I remember it being a bit touchy with the feedback as well. Anyone else have this problem with the super 77's?

I think you may need to wax pot the pickups, Chris. There's a thread somewhere around here that details how somebody else went about it.

Super 77's cannot be repotted. They are cast in epoxy. Three steps forward, two steps back for the old 2710.....

I need to at least replace the bridge pickup on this guitar.

Does anyone have a super 77 for sale?

My fear is that anyone that may be selling the correct pickup will be selling because it is already proven to be microphonic.

I cannot bear the thought of a standard mounted pickup in this guitar... someone help!

Did you already uninstall the pickup to make sure that you really have the epoxy potted version? In case you have the wax potted version, the pickup could be saved most probably...

That whitish stuff doesn't seem to be regular wax since it's kind of "elastic" and usually only covers the back of the pickup instead of filling it up completely. That potting could easily be removed with a heat gun or simply by pokin' it out...
