I have a 1978 Ibanez CN20AV sn 780556. I had the guitar in high school back in 1984, pawned itin 1989, then bought it back from e-Bay in 2006. I know it's the same guitar because in high school I removed the 'cloud' tailpiece, wrote my initials on it, and put it in the case. When I got the guitar back, I removed the tailpiece and there were my initials! Completely unbelievable, I know. Anyway, I'd like to hear from other CN200 owners, or any concert series for that matter.

I have always liked the Concert Series for its uniqueness, kinda like a strat / les paul blend. And thats an amazing story. The axe looks to be in great shape too! Just curious, was it a local eBay purchase, or how far did the guitar travel since 89'?

When I had the guitar I was in high school in Colorado Springs, Colorado. It traveled with me to Memphis where I pawned it. I now live in Georgia and the guitar was in Arizona when I found it on e-Bay. I always wished it could tell me how it came to be there. You can see and hear the guitar on YouTube. Search for kipreitz and look up "Autumn Rain" or "Remember Me".

What a stroke of luck Kip! She is a Beaut! I love the CN line...CN200 cw was my first electric in 78'...cherry wine...what a guitar...very versatile. The neck on these are butter!

That bottom pic is now in my collection of vintage Ibby pics...thx.

Kipreitz:

You have a beautiful Concert and a great story to go with it! The guitar has survived it's travels very well!

I wish I knew where my first Ibanez SG was. I'd probably buy it for sentimental reasons, no matter the condition.

JCMC I agree with you that the necks on these are butter. I like everything about them, from the easy radius to the between thin and thick (just right) feel front to back. The wide, flat frets are great, too. A note, my guitar's tuners had been replaced when I got it. What a disappointment it was to turn it over and not see stars. Needless to say, the problem's been rectified now.

Johns, I know how you feel about buying back your first Ibanez regardless of condition. That's how I felt about this one. Luckily, it had been well cared for all these years.

Just as a note. When I got this guitar back, the gold parts had tarnished or rubbed off quite a bit. So in addition to replacing the tuners as stated above, I've also replaced the cloud, tailpiece and bridge. Needless to say, I still have the original tarnished ones. I also stuck a gold switch tip on it just for fun, but I still have the cream one. Here's a pic of the guitar a few months before I pawned it in 1989, alongside a Gibson Flying V I bought with winnings from a third place finish in a Memphis battle of the bands. Note the tailpiece is off and a Seymour Duncan is in the neck position.
