I found this pretty interesting as it could be one of the very last 2617's that was fitted with a stop tail before the 'solid' cloud tail came in to production.

The guitar has obviously been messed with and seller refers to 'flame maple' in the text. Dunno where he found that on this guitar. Maybe a scattering in the neck.

I just landed a 2617 with the same stop tail configuration; serial number H7652xx, just a bit younger than that one.

Redscuderi (eBay username jcfi) has a 1976 Ibanez Artist 2619 for sale. Same tailpiece, same bridge, Ibanez logo pups (and a broken off endpin screw still in the body).

It's mentioned in another thread.

Stop tail and block logo is pretty transitional if you ask me.

i think six is right. that is a transition guitar. the block logo is in the '77 artist catalog. haven't seen one with a script logo in a while.
