I'm a huge Genesis fan and read somewhere that Daryl Steurmer played Ibanez guitars in the early years. It was a neckthrough strat type, but I don't know what the model name is. Any help on what model he is using would be much appreciated.

Roland:

I've been into Genesis since the mid '70s. I was surprised to see the connection between them and Ibanez. Daryl is most often shown in the Ibanez catalogs playing a Musician. It's hard to tell if the top is carved, which would make it an MC500. A flat top would have been an MC400. Here's the picture from the '80 catalog:

Mike Rutherford also played an Ibanez. It was an 2622EQ.

It was auctioned off on eBay in July of 2001 for $1480.00. Do a board search on Genesis and you'll find a couple of tidbits on Mike.

The Pic I posted was taken from their video for 'Three Sides Live'. I've seen the pic of the Musician in the catalog, but the one he plays in this video is cut like a strat and has a strat type headstock. Here's a pic from the Duke tour (1980). Anyways, you can see this cool guitar in action if you get 'Duke' remastered, because it comes with a dvd of them Live at Lyceum in 1980. Pretty awesome stuff.

The headstock in the Strat style guitar above is different.

I almost wonder if it's an Aria Pro II or something along those lines?... It's pretty cool whatever it is.

Has anyone ever heard of Suntec Guitars? It says during that tour he played Ibanez and Suntec guitars.

Here's the link...
