A Bolt-Neck Musician? 1979? Huh?

If I'm going to go through all the trouble to laminate a center piece and glue laminated wings onto the body, I might as well make a neckthrough, it'd actually be faster! Then again, it's just as time consuming to make a separate neck and then glue it on as it is to make a seperate neck and screw it on, the parts still have to be made to fit tightly. Then again, I don't have any CNC machinery to cut everything for me. Back then they didn't have CNC machines, just template guided cutters and stuff. It makes more sense to make a bolt-on to me if the body is a solid color, with a one or two piece body, not a fancy laminated body like that one.
