Im not sure if this is the right are to post this, if it isnt please move it administrator.

My name is Art, i was introduced to this website forum by a guy named Johns. I stumbled into this site while trying to look for information on the Ibanez 2670re.

I was amazed to hear Johns was an owner of one and marveled at the pictures he showed me. Since ive been saving up my pennies to get one of these beauties.

So i found one at musiciansfriend.com and its on the scratch dent section at a lowered amount of $5300.00. They dont give information on the dents or scratches it may have, they just guaranteed it usually is something minor and the playability and sound is not affected. Plus i have 45 days to play it and decide to keep it or not.

I personally dont mind any dings or scratches. I have bought all my guitars new and they never stay perfect. I play alot and nick it here and there anyways.

So i ran my credit card today. Lets see what happens?

Hey Johns it would be cool to have a list or something of all the 2670re owners? 45 how many have been sold etc?

Thanks fellas,

Art

Nice price Zen, and welcome to ICW...hopefully it will be just a minor thing that they have to list as a scratch n dent item...sometimes its nothing much at all...lets hope!

Post some pics when you get her.

I think you scored big time, Zenday. Great acquisition. Is that the number 18 on the rear electronics cover?

Art:

Fantastic! The last we talked was back in the beginning of Feb. You said: "I'm gonna start saving up to get one of these reissues." You're a man of your word! Did you ever find out which was heavier, the 2670re or the Gibson eds 1275?

You got a VERY good deal on that baby! I really hope that the "blem" is not very noticeable. The guitar is stunning in real life! Please take lots of pictures and post them here. It looks like Chucke99 is correct that it is #18 of 45. Unless something has changed, the case is not aluminum, as stated. Mine is black hardshell with a reptile-like texture and a plastic Ibanez logo, like they use on their amps.

Any idea when you'll be receiving it?

Welcome aboard, Art.

Those 2670REs are gorgeous. Those were low-rez pictures, but I didn't see the scratch.

Anyway, hope it works out for you. That'd be one to cherish.

Congrats on a very special score!

FWIW, 'blems' at Musicians Friend could mean that a customer purchased the guitar and returned it for whatever reason. If there are any marks on the guitar from the original buyer or due to transit, they could call it a 'blem' and sell it discounted. You benefit from a few normal user dents, much like any wall-hanger guitar one would buy from Guitar Center.

Plus you get to return it IF in the unlikely event, you don't want it. Great deal for you all around I'd say.

Hey thanks guys for the feedback. I got a confirmation on the order and a web order number. I ordered it yesterday morning and late last night i logged in and my information is there but it says "not processed yet" ? maybe its under their 24 hour verification process. either way i havent received a call from anyone. I called last night and they said nothing shows, i asked could it mean that it is pending process and they said yes.? im gonna get on them today!

Johns, yes ive been saving up and finally ready, this deal came just in time too! Im just waiting for them to process the order then it would be the standard delivery of 2-5 days. I weighed my Gibson eds1275 on the scale at home and it read 13.5 ? im not sure what the ibanez weighs?

Two main reasons why I wanted to replace the gibson for the ibanez was because of the missing frets on the gibson. I get an extra two frets on the ibanez. i didnt realize how valuable these two frets were until i got the gibson. Another reason was the Ebony firnger board. I have an old gibson 80 custom and my fingers feel in heaven everytime they touch ebony. Ive tried rosewood and its just not for me.

So ebony finger board and 22 frets on a douleneck reallymakes my dream guitar. PLus c'mon look at it its the most awesome, beautiful, even zen type looking with the natural wood finish.

I cant wait, in fact im calling them now..

Zen, better stay on 'em because... as someone stated above, it appears that axe is still available on their site, if anyone else goes and clicks that button on their site, and they really only have one 2670re... could be probs. for you. Great score and welcome. best of luck with it. Here's another Ibanez doubleneck, it's a 1983 ar1200av and it totally kicks butt.

Thanks Bobzilla,

I just got off the phone with them, there is an issue with the amount on my credit card it seems im covered for 5k but the remaining 345 is at issue. Im working that out now with capitol one...

Its that 24 hour verification process as soon as my bank oks it the guys said it will be shipped out asap.

Thats a really nice doubleneck there 1200av, i remember my friend had one just about the same. He pawned it and i never saw him with it again.

man i hope i get that doubleneck, i feel its totally meant for me. the timing is to perfect, the magic in the air is just right, i feel right, my jamming sofa feels right, this has to happen!!

Zen, you'll get that 2670. If I were you, while I was on the phone with them, I woulda at least made them secure it for you until the details were worked out. technically (maybe) someone without "issues" for lack of a better term could go on there right now and snag it. Know what I mean? If they have a credit card with $10k clear, they could just zap it on you so maybe call them back and make sure you're locked in and nobody else can get to it. Then, your little issue will be resolved and the axe is yours ... it seems like you got your heart set on it, it's an awesome axe, awesome deal, maybe call them back and tell them to MAKE ABSOLUTELY SURE no one can zap it while you clear your issue. I'd do it. Best of luck, welcome aboard, I'm pretty excited for you, such an awesome guitar! Tell them to get it off the website, it's yours and... nobody's allowed to even look at it.

I spoke with my credit card rep supervisor, he said there wont be a problem they always authorize over drafts so im good!

Im gonna call musicians friend and have them take it down from the website if possible. your absoluttley right.

I dont think its #18 though cause they do have two of these the scratch n dent and the regular. they are using the same pictures for both guitars. So the number may be different??

This guitar will come in just in time i will be able to use it for our new cd, its gonna be great!

Im way to excited here. but thats good.

Yes!

The verification process was cleared up and a few hours i received the shipment confirmation!! It looks like shes all mine.

I just hope the "blem" is not to serious. I keep obsessing on what the "blem" is or looks like. I hope the necks are straight and the fingerboard is fine too. i dont mind some dings here and there.

Maybe someone played it and just decided to send it back cause they needed the money and since it was played its "blem"?? They wouldnt sell anything with like a huge crack right??

Im gonna need classes on how to post pictures. so help!

2670re in my hands soon!!

Besides JOhns are there any other members with one of these doub nek reissues?

thanks,

}

MF has been blowing out existing stock for Gibson and other brands at super low prices by calling the items blems. In most cases they are actually new, unsold stock that they are just trying to move. I would expect your guitar to be perfect condition.

I feel positive, thanks jerry.

I wonder if ground UPS works saturday? Im expecting it to get here thursday night.

Anyone know of a place out here in la, california that can restore the paint on my gibson before i sell it? I played it while sitting on my sofa and my sofa is faux suede so the brown color of the sofa rubbed on the guitar. I would like to see if i can get that coloring off??

Thanks fellas

I bought a Ampeg Super Rocket Blem, 4 or 5 years ago from MF. Got a heck of a deal! and could not find one scratch or dent on it.
cherish the moment Zen. i am truly jealous of your score!

you may need to get the pics down to 50kb thats been my problem. if the pics are too high of a resolution you won't be able to post them...

another option is posting the pics on a photo shareing site like photobucket.com and adding a link here.

I think im gonna have to link the photos to a picture sharing site. if not maybe i can email them to a member here and they can do the favor of posting em up.

Chazmo, i have been tracking it and it looks like its on route to vernon california. i checked their map and it seems thursday is my best bet.

If you go to this site and download the imagere resizer.exe file you can then right click on any of your jpeg/bmp files and resize them.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/power toys/xppowertoys.mspx

I do this for any pics I post on here. It helps reduce the size to an acceptable level and you don't really notice a loss in quality of the photo. Once you download it and run the .exe file all you have to do is right click on a photo and resize it to your preference. It's really easy to use...just make sure you don't select the option to delete the original photo once you resize it.

also somethings fishy on the musicians friend site.

when i ran the search before i purchased the 2670re Blem there was also another 2670re but it was marked at $6,999.00 the no blem. so total two one blem and the other mint.

But now i ran a search and neither come out? if you click on the link on my first posting on this thread it will take you to the page but it says item has been discontinued" thats cuz i bought it. But where is the other Ibanez? the mint one priced at $6,999.00??

Could it be they only had one but advertised it as one blem and the other mint with it never being blem? So if you mind the blem you pay for that one full price but if you dont mind the blem they also give you the same one cause its on clearence anyway and they want to sell it but mark it as blem just to clear it out?

or would they actually have two 2670re's I just find it hard to believe that someone else also bought the other one at exactly the same time i bought the blem? i guess it could happen?

I didnt fully understand what all you guys here were saying about why they mark them as blem when theyre not just to clear em out. but now that i saw this otehr mint 2670 at a higher price go missing after i bought the blem it put it all together .

I just gotta be patient and stop obsessing on this before i jinx it and it arrives with a broken neck or somtn..

its hard not to think about it, i saved up about 6 months for this guitar and ever since i saw it here its been my dream guitar. it was my dream guitar when i saw john mclaughlins rainbow rex' but this ibanez looks alot better to my eyes..

As to the blem/no blem question, my wild guess would be they first listed it at normal price, then either decided they needed to move it or discovered some small blem, listed it as a blem, and forgot to delete the original listing.

Never overlook incompetence or stupidity as an explanation for much of anything.

Zen, Chuck was being kind there when he said "skeptic." Sometimes, I get a bit "crazy" when it comes to my Ibanez purchases, in more ways than one but... things always seem to turn out well in the end. Sometimes, with the help of fellow ICW members like Dave G... who has contributed so much to my happiness in regard to some IBZ axes I've purchased. I could never adequately repay him for all he's done. I think Dave should wear a SuperMan costume, he has the right to, as far as I'm concerned. And... things will turn out well here for you too.

AMAZING!

I did not find a single Blem on the guitar. It was in the original box labeled Hoshino Gakki CO. ltd, the outer box was from Private Reserve Guitars. they related to musicians friend?

I cannot believe the craftmanship on this guitar, the easy playability, light weight, awesome finish, fretboard is like butter.

Never in my life have i ever compared Gibsons vs Ibanez or Fender vice versa. I have always thought guitars are unique in their own way. But i had no choice but to compare after playing this ibanez. Ibanez is KING, i cant believe gibsons are so expensive, ibanez are in my opinion are better. I own a 1981 les paul custom tobacco burst and i prefer my new ibanez already. my gibson doubleneck 1275 alpine white is being sold to pay for this one. I cant believe how gross the 1275 is. its like wiping my with rocks and then now wiping my with kashmir or somtn.. I know this might damage my gibson sponsorship or these words might bite me in the or somtn but thats how i feel right now. the difference in quality to me is beyond..

I know I know..cant compare, different animals, etc.. sorry but from being a die hard true Gibson player for years i feel like i am really home now with this guitar. Ive had a3 hundred dollar ibanez artcore that plays better than the 1275 gibson..

I am the owner of number #( ) i wont say il let johns post the pictures but its a number i thought would be cool having and it came true.. amazing..ibanez loves me.

i found no blemishes except for some discoloration on one of the black lines that runs around the cut off. seems like the paint was running out or somtn, but thats all as far as blem its perfect!

AMAZING GUITAR!

JOHNS will post some pics chek em out

Aweesome score there Zenster. Congrats and... that feeling you have right now, will never wear off. Ten years from now when you pop open that case and see your baby, you'll still be amazed. Can't wait to see photos. P.S. - Ibanez IS better than Gibson, it's OK to admit it.

Thanks to all of you for your support and laughs and the congrats. It really made it fun and exciting and ive learned alot. Hope to learn more from you guys, you guys are really Pro's with Ibanez Guitars. Ibaenez Collectors.com has gathered wise and fun group of people here.

I came late to work this morning, I was up all night jamming on my 2670 plus this morning i ran a few licks on it again. I was tempted to call in sick so i can jam all day but i realize i do have to pay for it!

Let me tell you fellas, it is like this guitar came to me from the heavens. As if it was specially crafted for my fingers, arm length, eyes, nose, etc.. Its like getting a suit and having them custom tailor it to your exact body measurments. My fingers ran through the neck with ease, my slides and legattos were golden. Most important my bends and prebends were the best since 5 years ago. The 1275 would not allow me to bend comftrably and i had it worked on by many pros. This one i can bend and the string does not feel like its fighting me but more like its in unison with me wanting to reach the destination of where i want to take the bend.

I really do feel like a kid again with this guitar and thats what i needed to inject into my music. The fresh excitement and the joy of playing your instrument.

I keep rambling on..its just that ive never felt this great about a guitar. It was close when i got my gibson custom 81 lespaul. but this time its like x 100 or somtn

# 10 !!!

Zen, you don't even know how lucky you are to have that book they included. That was a nice/rare little gift they gave you there. Alot of folks would be thrilled to have that. I love the woodgrain on your axe. Nice nice very nice. Spectacular guitar you have there and it's neat to see you're so excited about it, you have every right to be, it's an incredible bird. #10 is also waaaaaaaaaaaaay cool! There's no way on Earth anyone's ever gonna beat the price you paid for it too so... it's understandable that you're up in the air about it. There was another thread here recently where some one had asked if the days of finding deals on IBZ guitars was over. I said they weren't, if you keep your eyes open and this is a good example that if you do keep your eyes open, you never know. I'd trade my spleen for that axe you just got. Need a spleen? Can you elaborate on your endorsement deal?

i know huh i did get a great deal! it was meant to be, i just know it. right place at the right time, the elements were all there..

The book is awesome it has a detailed history of how it all began, dates and rare guitars, etc plus it was packaged with what looks like silnce proof material. il send ya some pics bobzilla

i was playing around with the gibson endorsement thing lol! i always dreamed about beinged endorsed by them, but now that im talking crap about em it will hurt the chances of getting one lol (like it wouldve happened anyways!) so i was joking around

I wish there was a database to know how many of these 2670re have sold of the 45 and a little info on the owners. Last i heard Johns was working on something like that. So Johns mark me down for number #10 !!!

Hey, Art, that's "wicked awesome!" (shout out from New England here!)

Just wondering: are those scratches in the finish or base wood around the jack hole and dials? Those squiggles don't look like part of the grain, so maybe that's what they call "blem." ??

What does the truss rod cover on the six string peg head say? Is that "Special Construction?" Is that what the original 2670s said?

Thanks Bluesmeister i appreciate that. your out in australia? Wow! exciting im in california.

Chazmo: Those that look like scratches n squiggles are just the reflection of the camera. I was standing on top with the camera and you can see my reflection. But i guarantee you there are no scratches or squiggles or dings on it whatsoever. im so glad about that!

The only thing was on the second picture above, there is a trim black line that seems to run out thats the only thing but it isnt a result of scratches or dings, it seems like the opaint was running out or somtn. check the black line.

Yes it does say Special Construction on it. I dont know if that is how the original one was. Im a virgin with Ibanez so im barely getting into their history. just started glancing over the ibanez book the untold story..

Juhai wonder if thats already including tax? cause ive seen them mostly go for $6999.00. I wonder if guitarrez is including shipping on that price too?

Bobzill ive seen that one there for quiet sometime myself too.

(maybe a stupid question but here goes)
Will the value on this 2670re guitarrs climb or sink? When do you predict either will happen?

Zen, your guitar's value will not sink because you know how to take care of it

Guitarrez' web site popped up when I was searching something on the net, guitars anyway. I saw they had also Ibanezes, 2670re included. Then I only posted the link. I can't afford it and didn't pay attention to tax and shipping etc.

Zen, to me, the value of anything on this planet (and elsewhere) is determined by the buyer or potential buyer. That's it. Almost nothing else is relevant. You got your 2670re. You know what you paid for it. To you, it was "worth" =(value) what you paid, so that's the value. However, I bet now that you've had a chance to whack it around a bit... you know now that you'd have paid even more for it because it's worth it. To me, there's no LP on Earth worth (= value) $100,000. However... if someone else is willing to plunk down the 100G's... then.. it IS worth $100,000. Anytime you wanna sell me your 2670re for what you paid for it, please let me know, in that regard, your guitar will never lose it's value. I bet it's worth much more to you than what you paid for it though and you wouldn't let it go at any price. In case you don't know because you're a recent arrival, I paid ALOT for my ar5000 original. I literally ate pasta every day for weeks because it set me back. Would I do it again, knowing the guitar now? Yep, in a heartbeat, it was worth it. Personally, I can't place a "value" on the enjoyment I have experienced from owning and playing that guitar. Same will hold true for you. The guitar is what it is. It will retain it's value, mostly likely go up because of what it is. If you take care of it and... don't mount a whammy bar on it... (cringe) You and the axe will be in good shape, many years down the road. You'll never sell it anyways so it's almost a silly question, Not quite, but almost. IMHO. The question I had in regard to my ar5000 and the ar5000re is/was... how does the resale potential of the original get affected by the release of the reissue? Does the original now possess a higher resale potential because of the reissue? I dunno. I will most likely never know. Same question applies to the original 2670 and the reissue. The 2670 originals were selling at apprx. $4k for quite some time, then the reissue comes out at $7k. Does that mean the original which was selling for $4k for so long is now worth over $7k, just because an original is always supposed to be more valuable than a reissue? I dunno. I only ponder these things in regard to potential resale as opposed to the value of the guitar. Like I said, the value/worth is in the eyes of the beholder. Resale potential, to me, is really something completely different.

i think your right 100%.

I think mine is totally worth the &10.000.00 mfg price. To me at least. Ive been loving this guitar since i was a little brat and saw John Mclaughlin tear it up! I even personally tried to hire luthiers to recreate it for me. I didnt even know ibanez had produced them as well in the 70"s until i heard the reissues come out. So immediately searched and found this place with pictures of johns holding his.

I made it a goal to save my pennies and get one, i was eyeing the one sam ash had in stock. I too sacraficed some things to save up. i still owe some money on the credit card for it and is the reason im selling my les paul custom and doubleneck.

Just as soon as I recover im gonna start looking for a original 2670. hopefully i will find one!

id like to see your ar5000

thanks bobzilla!
