Jeff -

Thanks for the heads up.

The Destroyer is already "sale pending".

Chuck -

There's a near mint 76 RRS there as well that's still available.

$1600 is way too much, though it's pretty and probably mint.

Also, he wants $2100 for the strat and $1700 for the LP (both way overpriced) so he has no idea what they are worth, even dead mint. I wonder if the explorer went for around $1600 too?

Wow, cool fiddles, but the Strat copy more than the Ash / Korina knock offs? Love that RR Sr!Still, if I were a rich man, I'd drive an empty van to his house and.........

I've been stalking the Gear Page for months, but haven't checked there in a week or so. A cool site overall.

Got my own UNBELIEVABLE Ibanez story brewing myself right now. Won't release it until it comes to fruition (tomorrow night). I'll be posting it in the "80's Cool / Contemporary" thread. Let's just say I'm a happy boy. Pete, 'Zilla & gang, check it out...

Hello everyone, this is my first post on this site, I "discovered" it in July when I was doing research for my next aquisition. You see Im the one who just bought the Destroyer talked about in this thread.
Yes the mint unplayed- ill call it the "Crazy Train Destroyer"!!- one that is on the Gearpage.
Now im not posting just to brag...I know how all of you that hoped getting this one are feeling right now. I myself have lost some crazy oportunities like this before.
The real reason that im posting is to mention that I will take tons of high def pictures to share with you guys,.... while doing my prebuy research, I was frustrated at the lack of good quality detailed Destroyer pics.
Now since this a mint unplayed 30 years old guitar, I thought that collectioners like you guys would appreciate the report. It could be a good template as to what a mint Destroyer should look like.
So anyway, ill get the guitar aroud mid week next week and start taking pics, ill try to get a closup of everything, including the 30 yrs old factory strings still on there!
Cheers

Nah, I am not jealous/envious. I am old and oldfashioned and I like bodies with round curves on my lap.

Hey Peterdryan, I actually followed your quest for a Destroyer with the treads on this site.....I feel for you man! I actually thought about you whn I wrote the first post hoping to not freak you out too much!....so is it like you own 2 Lawsuit Destroyers already and cant cure your Gas! or are you still short of one?
This ax for me will be my 6th guitar(2 acoustics)... from what ive seen as collections on this site, if you have one of the posted ones, then my friend I wont feel so bad!
At what point does the collection becomes "guitars on the wall" as oposed to playing all of them?
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the pics!!
That should be done by Thursday or Friday next week.
Also just to mention, I have been working on this deal since July(before it got posted worldwide I guess), the thing is in August, I thought the deal was dead, as the owner seemed to have better things to do than work out the details to sell this lot, so I got myself a Dillion Explorer copy! Great guitar, solid Mahogany body, long tenon set neck, great pickups(although I will know where they stand when I compare to the great super 70's).
So I might do a comparision post between the 2...although it might be on another site as this one is exclusivley Ibanez.
Cheers

Momo -

I only have one Destroyer, a 1975, that I got on The Gear Page a few months back.

I used to own a Korina Destroyer back in the late 70s/early 80s but got rid of all my gear at one point in life.

I've just started playing a little again after a 25+ year break so I'm buying gear all over again.

I don't know what year Destroyer I had back then but I think it was one of the later Korina models so I'm trying hard to land one of those in as fine a condition as I can get.

After 3 years, I'm finishing up my Masters degree in November and, after that, I'll (hopefully) have a ton of free time to really dive back into playing again.

I have a few guitars and they all get played at one point or another.

I usually have two of them out at any given time.

There are certain ones that just sync up with whatever particular mood I'm in.

It really just depends.

Congratulations, again, on the super score.

You're my hero for the time being.

AAAAARGH, DANG, JEEZ,

Momo,
Peter first wrote about the gearpage listing. I immediately offered an obnoxious amount of money for the guitar which nobody ever replied to. Great score. Do you intend to play it?

As with everybody else, I will pay top dollar for that guitar. I have looked for and wide (and much to my chagrin - usually one step behind Peter) for one of these. It is the final Ibby for the collection (OK, I kinda am lying for sympathy here but WTF).
If you find another, call me first.

Cleversj, I understand how you feel! You better believe it that im gonna play it! Ill play it till my left hand has melted in the neck....sure ill take care of it, but im not planning on keeping it unplayed in the case to sell in 20 years.
Basically I see it as Im in 1976 and I just bought a new guitar! but with emmediate added respect and care for this babe.
You know ill just add a bit here about money, yea I understand trying to land an awsome deal by using the power of money, but Im happy to see that it does not always win!
Clevers, im not messin with ya, its just that I had the oportunity to establish a certain relationship in July with the seller, we tried to get this thing going and established what we thought was a fair price for both parties.Unfortunatley the owner took care of buisness only 3 weeks ago!......so the deal was essentially done a while ago and Im happy to see that the "virtual handshake" we did in July was respected by the owner.
I plan to do high def detailed pictures that ill post here as soon as I get it.
Cheers

Here are my two grails that my wife understands I will go through high water to find. I showed her this picture about a week ago, just before the Gear Page Korina V showed up. Well, now it's one down and one to go:

Chuck, tell me what you like about the 2630...I see it has super 80/80thin pups, how different are those from super 70's?
Also, what is the best feature you like about it?

Oh and if your wondering, im not on the market for one of these!...that would be rude to my new lady, you know you cant have everything all at once!!
Anyway my "trainwreck" Destroyer lady will be looking very sexy and keep me satisfied for a while im sure.
Great ax though, I guess you would play more jazz vibes or maybe old style blues with her?

What I like about the 2630 (vs the AS200) is that I used to own a 2630, but sold it back in the early 1980's. I want it back. I also used to own a 2387CT. I cannot rest until I can show you three guitars hanging together on my wall: the 2387CT, the 2630, and the MC400NT. I have (or will have, when the V gets to me) two out of the three.
