1977 Artist Bass?

Now, here's an interesting picture of a GOB700 Bass by Greco, from their 1978 catalog. It is the closer to the body shape of the eBay bass than is the Musician or even Studio bass, and it has three control knobs in nearly the same place, and has through-body strings. This is the 2626B Artist bass. In 1977 it had the pickups same as the model on eBay, and by 1978, it had pickups more similar to Musician pups. My guess is that there are bumps on the underside of the original tuners that fit into those holes and that holds them in place.   Bassassin Username: Bassassin Registered: 1-2006 Posted on Monday, November 19, 2007 - 5:28 pm:    Chucke's right - the originals look like copies of Schaller M4S tuners, which have pegs on the backplate to hold them straight. The generic looking ones on the Ebay bass have smaller posts & don't fit the headstock drillings properly - there are extra washers underneath the hex bushings so they don't fall through the holes. The huge pickups magnets give this bass a nice sound. Playing with the tone knobs and switching pickups I can achieve all kinds of tones from ''Ricky'' to subterranean marshmalow.
