I just bought a beat up Custom Agent yesterday, this is the 3rd vintage Ibanez guitar I have bought in the last six mths, this and the 2386 LP lawsuit in the last month.since I discovered this site I find myself looking through pokey pawnshops and scouring classifieds and auction sites.I am hiding guitars from my wife, and when they are discovered saying, "but you don't understand that is a signifigant guitar".This behaviour is becoming obsessive.I now have 8 electric, 3 acoustic and 6 valve amps.Perhaps the biggest joke is I'm only a hobby player. What is the cure?

But I digress, the Custom Agent is a '77 and where on the headstock on the right hand side has been dropped and sheared the little curl that comes underneath(should have got straplocks). No pickguard, non original pups(dimarzio's,)non original but quality tuners, New bridge and tailpiece (chrome instead of gold), Non OHSC.The neck is arrow straight and low fast action.Quite worn frets, but lovely to play. Not as heavy as my PF400,similar neck, plugged through a Trace Elliot Velocette twin what a sound,I also have a 1974 Les Paul custom 20th anniversary and this blows it away.I'm sure the Dimarzio's help.I paid Aud$200 orUS$120,the truth is the git is probably not worth anymore than that.Due to damage and non OEM parts but as a players guitar.Show me a better sound for the money.Love to hear from anyone who has one.NO MORE GUITARS THOUGH,although I once had a AS-200 10 years ago hmmmmmm.

Shane:

The only cure is to start buying NEW Ibanez guitars! J

Regarding the CA: Yeah the curls on the headstock are common casualties. Sounds like you got a great price.

I find my CA is a very light and easy to play guitar. The neck is probably too small for a big-handed guy, tho. One of the Dixie Chicks would probably love it!

Mine's pre-seral number and 100% stock and I think the pickups are a little anemic. Maybe the pups were better in later years.

The body on mine is made of several pieces of wood laminated together, with veneers on top and back. Not my idea of a premium guitar.

Let me know if you succeed in forming or finding a support group for this affliction...

I too suffer from Vintage Ibanezitis...

My worst example is buying a '77 sunburst LP off of e-bay because it was like mine in the glory years( No pictures and sight unseen ) and then
convincing myself I NEEDED a vintage Fender tube amp to compliment it... that wasn't all so bad.. last week I found myself bidding on another....When is this madness going to stop??

Hi guys,
I need your support group! After buying 5 guitars(all Ibanez)on eBay in the last five months, I promised my wife no more purchases for five years. Wwell, I just broke that promise with another deal I couldn't pass up. Does anybody want my 9/10 '78 Artist?

Sorry Mike, I just made a deal today and let it go for $700. It's a 9/10. I had a deadbeat bidder on eBay and that was the high bid. Worth every penny.Mike

Chuck:

I think I saw one of these on ebay a few months back.

Did it have dark colored trapezoid fret markers?

I'll tell you what works for me is "It's an investment for our daughters future"I would probly sell a kidney before any of my guitars but it is nice to have liquid assets "just incase" and at the rate I'm going by the time she inherits them she'll have enough to retire or start a museum.

I'll trade it for a '75 Ibanez Artwood Nouveau Strat or maybe a Artwood Twin

Looks like I found the right place for my question. OK so I have what I think is a vintage Ibanez. Its an old Blazer. It says Blazer series custom made Ibanez. Has 5 way switch. Tone and volume knob. What is the worth of this guitar.

And I wish your wives the best of luck!!

Jason,
Two just sold on Ebay recently for $158.50 and $199 but I have seen them go higher in the past.I'll check on the Blue Book value.
