Hope I don`t offend a member, but someone is bidding on most of the Artists on eBay, maybe he/she is trying to corner the market!! Good time to sell, before all their $$$ is gone! Cheers.

JOHN :

I AM THE NUT BUYING UP MOST OF THE ARTISTS UNTIL I CANT BUY ANY MORE.AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED IT BEATS THE SAVINGS ACCOUNT WHERE IF I EARN INTEREST UNCLE SAM WANTS TO TAX ME AGAIN ON MY HARD EARNED MONEY.

MAYBE A FEW YEARS FROM NOW,THE BETTER ONES I GET WILL EARN ME A BETTER RETURN.

IN THE MEANTIME,I WILL SELL OFF THE ONES I AM NOT HAPPY WITH BY POSTING THEM AT THIS SITE FOR CLOSE TO MY ORIGINAL INVESTMENT.

I BELIEVE THESE GUITARS ARE ONLY GOING TO GO UP IN PRICE IF YOU HAVE THE TIME TO WAIT.

P.S. I AM NOT OFFENDED IN ANY WAY,I AM A IBANEZ MANIAC!!!

Mike,
Glad you responded and I hear ya on the interest frustrations, I`m quite envious and hope it all goes well, as I think it should. My problem, if I were doing this, would be having to sell them later! Good luck!!

JohnC:

I know what you mean about selling them after buying. Even my least favorites are still hanging out with their "brothers". And my wife keeps asking why I haven't sold them yet.

Shhh...don't tell her that I use them as bargaining chips for the next purchase. It goes something like this:"Aww, come on...just this one more. You know it'll pay for itself when I sell the other two." Then I fend off the "why haven't you sold the other 2 yet" objections. The trick here is to always change 1 of the 2 and then ask for her opinion on which to get rid of. This makes her think I'm serious but also confuses her with decisions she could care less about.

Eventually she gives up and says: "whatever...but this is the last, right?"

"Oh yeah,baby. I swear!"

Hey JohnS,
Man, you`re killing me!! I swear the same conversations go on at my house. And I thought I was alone at this game... I like the 'ask her opinion' thing, hmm...

JohnC:

But you don't really think that my wife doesn't play her own variation on "the purchase game", do you?

For instance, take me to a furniture store and my brain turns to mush. She knows I'll cry "Uncle" within 2 seconds of looking at material samples. "Whatever you want...just get me outta here!"

AND...just one of her furniture purchases covers my whole investment in a 10 Ibanez guitar collection!

Gotta love 'em. tho! J

John s.

recieved the ar305 se yesterday.WOW!!!!
it is better than he described.the guitar has only one bb size ding on it,very hi gloss finish, cloud tailpiece with ibanez engraved on it,he actually had the frets polished, new strings on it and the intonation set.action is way low with no buzzes anywhere.now i know why you are keeping yours!
its nice to know that there are some "good guys" offering instruments on ebay.this guy was great.
all elctronics are in perfect working order and the trisound has changed my mind about switches and gizmos as i called them before.

as far as pictures go,i am going to wait till i have them all here, then have my friend with his camera come over.at that time i will contact you for more info on getting these posted for all to see.

i am REALLY HAPPY about this one and will keep it for a long, long time.

by the way,do you have any info on the 1978 artist/musician??the guy i got it from is a luthier but not a ibanez nut like most of us.
the serial number is A788071 with artist style body and neck-thru construction.has dot inlays and came with original optional aluminum case(nice)
i'm wondering if this was of the "hasselberger"specials that was made in very small quantities.

well,i got to go back and check on my other bids.
p.s. i am on yet another borrowed computer at home and can be reached at this email for a few days.(still holding out so i can buy more guitars)
peace.

to everyone :

i mentioned that the prices of the ibanez vintage guitars was only going to go up if you have time to wait on 4/16/00.

i had no idea that they would escalate in terms of $$$$ so rapidly!!

anyone watching the auctions in the last few weeks can attest to this fact.

we should all be smiling that we can reassure our respective "better 1/2's" that we were so wise in investing in these fine instruments.

at least that'll be my excuse!

peace.

To Mike G. and all:
Did you notice a '77 Weir dot neck on eBay went for $680. Not even two months ago there were a couple of similar Weirs that couldn't even fetch $400. One was relisted three times and finally went for under $400! There isn't a more solid guitar made, especially in the thick area around the neck pickup, which translates into serious tone. I consider myself fortunate to have one and of course, to be able to relay to my wife it's almost doubled in value. And I don't think Ibanez's are near their real value in terms of sound and playability. I think if more info on the vintage items was out there, the values would go up even more? Has anyone seen how pathetic the blue book is at vintage Ibanez? Artist are divided into two categories, 70's and 80's. Within each category, the book only distinguishes between "plain" and "fancy". Ha!

McvEE and all:

i was bidding on the one that went for $680.00 also.
i had already got the other one for $500.00 but like you said, plain or fancy, they are still player's.

i guess you're talking about v.g. price guide.
all over the place with prices.but still better than "blue book of guitars"4th edition
that does not even cover prices on alot of great ibanez products.

as long as we know what they are worth value wise these will continue to rise in value as the supply gets thinner and thinner..

Aaron:

I saw it and was tempted. As you say, setneck LPs are rare.

Be sure to let us know what you think and send us some pictures, if possible.

I've gotten it and I was told that the neck pickup was a old one, not original, but it sounds very very good. the guitar has tons of low end on it and plays very good! Very little wear on the guitar. All it is short is a pickguard, but I don't think I'd have one on it if I had it anyway. I'm enjoying not having it there. I'll try to get some pics taken of it soon.

Oh, by the way, it has the slanted Ibanez logo which I though was kind of interesting. I don't know anything about the slanted logo, common on a 77 setneck or not? Haven't seen too many slanted logos.

Oh, and 3rd post on the same forum today! Same problem at my place with all these things I'm amassing (currently 9, and I'm only in college!) The whole thing with being up here at college keeps a few of them at home and 3 up here so it doesn't seem like I have as many as I do! I have no idea what I'll do this summer when I have to have all these things in my room. I think I'll have to look for another place, too many guitar cases on the bed!
