Hello out there!

Has anyone seen a 1970's Ibanez "2672" with Vine Inlay on the Fingerboard, Only???

I have what I would consider to be an Ibanez 2672 with Vine Inlay on the Fingerboard Only!
I believe the 2672 to be basically the same as the Artist 2617 with Carved Ash Body, double cut-a-ways, Rock Maple Neck, and Natural Finish. The main difference is that instead of the Pearl/Albalone/Pearl Inlays like the 2617 model, the 2672 has the Full Vine Inlays on the fingerboard.
...AWESOME!!!
I anyone has seen one please let me know where.

Harold

I need to jump in and tell everyone that Harold has submitted quite a few shots of this guitar and I am presently making a page out of them for the Guitar Tours section. It'll be done very soon.

The only feature I would add to Harold's description is the mini-toggle switch.

Harold: is this switch a tri-sound (hb, sc, phase) or simple 2 coil tap?

Heads-up! This one currently on ebay has been messed with by the looks of it.

Its not a vine model but must be a hybrid nonetheless. Any ideas Harold?

It appears to be '75 (pre-serial number) and has a very nice looking top. It has got some unique features that I've not seen before, like the combination of the "nashville" bridge with the plain tailpiece. The white binding across the top of the headstock is unique, also.

I've never seen the two mini toggle switches, before. I'd have a hard time saying they are original, but they could be. They look old.

Obviously, the pups are changed. I would have expected to see embossed "script" logo ones. The tuners are from an early 80s Westbury (made by the Matsumuko factory).

Yes it is. I saved the pics for a good look and detailed study earlier. Got excited there for a minute. Also no black pinstipe in the body binding. Very deep carving around the body edge though. Were all early 2617's the same?

Pricey too.

Sorry, last message was to agree with Winnie but John got his oar in first.

Mini toggles look like an after thought John.

Guys,

Looks like a very nice 2617 to me!
Excellent wood grain!

Are there any NUMBERS stamped on the fingerboard in the 20th - 22nd fret area?

Guys,

On further thought the guitars looks more like the 2672 Professional but with Pearl/Abalone/Pearl Inlays!

I was following an auction for some EARLY Ibanez Dealer catalogs from the 70's with the original binder. (Orval, do you know the winning bidder?) I have seen him bid on some very nice Vintage Ibanez gear! These catalogs have averaged almost 100.00 dollars each in the last year!
After this auction ended, I did a search and the 2672 popped up and I thought here we go again with a Bogus ebay listing like the guy that tried to sell me the 2399dx model that Orval OWNED!
Oh.... he did leave me positive feedback though!
(I thought harold was selling his 2672 featured in the Ibanez Guitar tours gallery)

BUT FOR 1200.00???
Harolds has the script Logo, and i'm not sure if his is dated or not. This one is J766068 indicating October 1976. Could this be the transition period when Ibanez started with the smooth tuners? I will have to check the catalogs I have to verify if they were available this early. I would have thought that Harolds guitar (if its a predated model would have been set up like this one is, with the stop tail piece and earlier version of the gibralter bridge.
Does anyone know when the scruggs tailpiece was first introduced? I'm certainly privaledged and lucky for aquiring this great find! I will be very happy when it arrives as I have been very nervous pondering it's arrival and will post some pics to the board.
With the money I have spent on Ebay this year on guitars and the inflated Vintage premium prices I have paid for them, Its finally nice to Score on a deal. It also will be fun to research this model.
The seller is a great guy and we talked for over an hour about guitars and the direction music in general is headed in. Also I learned that there has been an explosive amount of fine guitar luthiers in Canada who are offering possibly the next generation of Custom made guitars... ( I'm so happy for this and will be following it closely.)

Thankyou to everyone for the fine compliments!
