Thanks Skybone!

The first one looks like a good one for Dave "What A Shame" G.

Ahhh, sweet revival!

I bought the tuners with Buy-it-now but the seller decided that he will try to get a better price and relisted without a BIN. See my transaction here:

Ace:

How can this happen? Isn't he bound to sell them to you, by ebay law?

He sent me half a dozen or so e-mails after the auction ended claiming he clicked the wrong button and it was a mistake. (yeah, right!) I was going to take it to eBay but let him go after one of the regular posters on this forum pleaded for him. I saved all his e-mails though, just in case.

Yeah...OK...but check out the stats...13 negs and 17 donuts... in the last 12 months?! I'm sure it's not the first time. A BS move no matter how much begging. Accountability, that's what I like. That's my bloviation for the day (not a word so don't check).

Ace:

You're too nice. How long was the auction up before you did the BIN? If it was any period of time, then he should have bit the bullet.

He probably got emails after the auction ended saying they'd pay more. A complete set of old thumbscrew tuners don't come around that often. His BIN was a VERY nice deal for sure!

Sorry, I guess I'm grumpy from working too much lately and not even having time to pick up my new SZ520!

My bid time was about 25 minutes after his post time. The only reason I let him off the hook was because a respected person from this forum spoke for him. This seller's reputation is really quite obvious by now, buyers beware.

So, a lesson learned...I guess we can stop reminding you as even a saint's skin is only so deep ;^/
For the rest of us, remember, the seller really wants to sell it, but the buyer really really really wants to buy it...so, SELLER beware!!

Apologies for the link to the dodgy bloke. I was tempted to bid for those tuners myself, seriously had to resist the urge!

I'm trying to save my pennies for some new pickups for one or two of my Ibanez.

here's the story on the tuners. i had bought a scruggs tailpiece from this seller and after the auction he offered me a second one for the same price, so i bought it. i had been watching the tuners and no one had bid, so i asked the seller if he would consider an early end. he set a price and i said ok. he relisted with a buy it now at that price without letting me know first and since i wasnt sitting at the email station, ace pulled the trigger on the auction. of course, the seller was in a panic because he expected me to do the buy it now, and now he was in a situation where he potentially had 2 people upset with him.

after some time, he just decided to do a relist and let the auction run its term. i asked ace and he graciously agreed to take it easy on the seller for the confusion. the relist auction ended today with me as the hi bidder.

so, the seller is a decent guy trying to do the right thing, and ace is a great guy to let the deal ride, and i feel fortunate to get the parts that i wanted.

hey everyone, have a safe memorial day weekend.
