Really,man, get somewhat real. Gibson 1275 doublenecks only fetch around $2000-2200. Toss in the rarity/coolness factor of the Ibanez and you may be in the same range, but that's really stretching it. Frankly, I'd rather spend the bucks to look like Jimmy Page than Denny Laine (wings), or whichever-the-hell one of the Eagles also used that axe. Wait... you're not Don Henley having a garage sale, are you? |

How about this, let's not turn the Classified section into a forum to "deride" folks who want to buy or sell. People should be free to ask whatever they want. If someone is interested in the item but the price is not to their liking, then make an offer and handle the negotiations in private conversations.
There are other sections of this Discussion board that are provided to discuss particular guitars and what they are worth.
Let's keep the Classifieds section as lean as possible. That means no replies to posts.

Hello everybody!
My guess is that "MSASAP" was just testing the waters.
Since this is an "Ibanez Collectors Site" what better place to drop the Artwood Twin "A-bomb." It appears to have generated a hughe "radio-active dust cloud." It is possible that some day (not to far away, maybe light-years away, who knows for certain), Artwood Twins will easily bring in $4K.
As you all know anything is possible with Ebay! All it takes is one person wanting one bad enough. In any given situation if enough people at the 'same time' have the 'same wants/interest/desires/lust' an Artwood Twin could bring in $4K in the market place. It's called 'Supply and Demand.'
I would assume at present the demand for Artwood Twins is far below the expectations of MSASAP. This is a free country and people have the freedom to 'Test the Waters' as well as ask whatever price they want.

I have an Artwood 2670 twin neck with flight case and manual I bought new in 1979 for 1650.00. I even still have the little tuning key spanner and trussrod wrench and I wouldn't take 4000.00 for it now,(if I WOULD sell it). I'd sure like to find the original sales catalog which shows it on the back page though... |

I'm waiting on pictures from a seller who apparently has an Artwood and a Weir - both with vine inlays - that will only be sold together. Said he would provide an asking price after I review the photos. Sounds like I might need to talk to a banker about a loan..... |

Lets get some perspective on this. I worked in a music shop in the late 70’s. We were selling 2670 Artwood’s for £915 (if anyone had the money). No one did so, we didn’t sell any. In 1995 I paid £400 for one. This guitar was in brown sunburst but had the block logo (like the new ones) on both headstocks and Super 80 pickups loaded into it (factory fitted). I sold it in 1998 because I didn’t have anywhere to put it (anyone out there who’s got one will know that the case is as big as a coffee table). After weeks of advertising I sold it to a guy in Manchester for £600. It was in first class condition and looked fantastic. So I would say that £915 was a reasonable offer. What goes around comes around I suppose. |

This is from a photo of the actual guitar. I cut out the background and added the shadow. Sixvsix sent another photo of the Twin sitting next to his Randy Scruggs, also.
Six sold this guitar to someone in Manchester in 1998, btw. So all he has left are memories and pictures of one of the rarest and most collectible Ibanez guitars.
It would be cool if we could find the current owner. |

You could have had my one back then for £750. So I think you done pretty well getting that big ole' Coffee table for £1000. Plus it looks like an early one too.
The pic I sent to John has the scruggs next to it yes. I can email you some additional pics if you're interested in seeing other shots of the guitar for reference.
I've tried to load up some pics on the site lately but have had real problems. Perhaps I'll send them all to John for a "Whats in your collection" (past/present)addition to that thread.
It is a shame but I have no idea where that twin ended up. It could be still over here but as I explained to John the guy I sold it to bought it for a "name" player. So who knows?

What were the tuners on yours? I've only seen star or pearloid ones on twins. Also it's seems odd to have the old style bridges with super 80 pickups. Transitional period, or another rare oddity? |

Hi Tim
It had the Grover type Goto tuners with 'Ibanez' (no star) on the back. You're right about the bridges being the older model and both had minimal wear on the saddles. Also had step heel neck joints too and plain gold knobs (no rubber insert). I agree that it was probably a transitional model. That guitar was virtually unplayed. Additionally after consulting my book, I sold it in 97'. |

Yup, still got the Scruggs plus that blue Bob Weir, a 2464 Birdland and a 620 Concord.
I've recently sold my 2355,a 2455,an LR10 and my old 2617.
I'm still after that early 2619 in brown sunburst a 2457 semi (or an SA400 in cherry) and a 2676 Artist. |

Sixvsix, your brown sunburst Artwood twin is my new wallpaper. I have a 1997 Ford Ranger pickup with 19,000 miles on it I'd seriously think about trading for this guitar...in case you're interested. I inherited the pickup and it's a third vehicle. I'd probably play the twin more that I drive the pickup. You in the U.S.? |

But alas Craig, that Artie got sold a few years ago.
Thanks for the offer though Craig. I'm actually based in the UK but I’d guess the shipping costs would have evened out considering the size/weight of the guitar and its bleedin’ case.
Funny thing is I've always fancied one of those big meaty truck things. In saying that, we pay 73p a litre on fuel so my guitar buying would have to end to run the pickup. Yet, if I still had the guitar, I may have gone for that trade and just used it on Sunday afternoons on a run out to Finchingfield or Brighton or somewhere else where they sell good Ice Cream.
I’ll mail you some more pics for a screen saver. How about that?

Spooky! In fact I sold that guitar to a guy in the Manchester area. That was in 97' but I have no record of his address or telephone number as I don't normally keep that info for long. Like I said before he was buying it for a 'name' player. If anyone knows a person in the Manchester area who deals with 'names' then you might be in luck. He sounded like an older guy so he's probably been around a while.
I never actually met him. This is because a bloke I worked with at the time who travelled home at weekends took the Artie with him one Friday night and this buyer picked it up from his house in Chester on the Saturday.
You never know Craig, it may still be around. You'll find the serial number in another thread on Artwood twins on this site.

It sure is a wonderful country. Unfortunately nowadays, I can't extend that sentiment to a lot of the folk who live here.

Unfortunately, the guitar shopping is not too good here unless you want a brand new American made guitar. All of the used stuff, Ibanez included, has disappeared from the stores. Some people blame ebay. I did see a used Talman at a local store for $300 U.S. It wasn't a treasure, but it was OK. Went back a week later and it was gone. Not surprised. |

If you look at my old Sunburst 2670 model above, the spec is that same except this one has Super 70's. This one is F76 where as my sunburst was a K76 and had Super 80's fitted.
Seems that between June and November thay made the switch to Super 80's but the rest of the hardware looks the same. Looking at the other pics posted on the auction, this one has step neck joints too.

By the way that's not my hat. My girlfriend just decided it looked good on me at the time. She's an ex-girlfriend now!!
Also, can you spot the groove in my left shoulder. It was certainly more comfortable to use the 6 string strap button and the higher rear button.
Hell that guitar was heavy!"

Wow. I'd heard there were brownburst artwood twins and now
I've seen the pictorial evidence. I've seen a number of single
neck models but never a photo of a twin. Cool.
You should have kept it even though it weighed 12,000 pounds.
Cool always outweighs pain-inducing every time.
Someday I'll have money again and I'll have to get one of these
if I ever see one for sale again. |

For you guys that have been watching a few years, how often does an artwood twin come on the market, and how often does a weir vine come up for sale. Just a rough idea. Oh yeah, these scruggs i read about, are they as rare or sought after too! |

Re sixvxix's comments. I also worked in a UK music store in the 70s & 80s and we had to almost give away the tree of life vine necked guitars as everyone thought they were a wee bit crass. Amazing that they're now collectable - should have put a few aside !! |
