Seeking info on unusual 1978 Musician...

First, the 3-way pickup selector switch is grouped below the strings with the rest of the controls, not on the upper horn. Secondly, the "Ibanez" name on the peghead is inlaid in MOP or abalone. All of the Musicians I've seen, even the MC 400s and 500s have the "Ibanez" on the peghead in gold letters (decal?). I've been searching the web for info on this but haven't had any luck, so far. Someone on another site just turned me on to this site, so if this has come up before I apologize. Anyone have any info about this? I sold one that was the only one i had seen with the m.o.p. inlay. Is it the same guitar? I acquired mine with some black knobs on it, but later got the original gold speed knobs off of ebay from a guy in Australia. The Canada connection is very interesting. I bought mine about 1.5 years ago over the net from Murch Music in Ontario. I wonder if this incarnation of the Musician was a Canadian phenomena? I certainly think the positioning of the pickup selector switch works better than on the upper horn where it is susceptable to being hit accidentally. As for the guitar, I find it a bit heavy and the neck a little too thick for my taste. I am considering selling it as I currently have a custom Alembic being built for me. I must admit, though, that the workmanship on this Ibanez is quite astonishing for a production axe in this price range. Thanks for the info. Bill
