I do not know anything about super 88's , whether there functioning properly or that they need some work .The guitar I have is a real nice guitar but if it isn't playing up to its protential its not worth having . The guitar belong to my brother and I would like to keep and play it in his memory.I can only start from beginning and learn as much about the guitar as I can . Maybe they'll sound and play as good as my Starfires 3 and 5 and S300 . If the guitar has been laying around first thing it might need is a visit to your proficient guitar tech, a little cleaning spray on the tone and volume pots, the input jack and the pickup selector switch might make a world of difference in the tone. Most Ibanez pickups are pretty damn nice sounding. Any way the way that Super 88's are expressed are they the name of the pickups or is it slang . I have been looking for a tech and I want to know all I can about them to be sure that I don't get talked into something I really don't need .I have gone to a few websites and I can't find Super 88's any where . Am I doing something wrong . As far as Super 88 pickups, do a 'Search' here on the forum and you'll find a lot of information about them and which guitars they usually were found in. Back in the day I had the chance to play behind Bobby 'Blue' Bland a few times as part of a club's house band when he came to town. ('69 or 70) His regular band was always tight and professional (Probably why he never asked me to tour with him :-))   Johns Username: Johns Registered: 02-2001 Posted on Thursday, July 14, 2005 - 2:25 pm:    Dallen: My condolences also for your loss. The MC500 was the top of the line Musician production model. It's highly prized by collectors and players. Super 88 is the name Ibanez gave to these pickups. They don't generally get the rave reviews that the Super 58s do. Not sure why. I think the plastic covers where a little too radical back in the late '70s. Guitarists like shiny, glittery things. It's hard to say whether your guitar is playing optimally or not. Are there some symptons that you are experiencing? Scratchy, low volume, microphonic? Or is it that they don't sound like your Guilds?
