Author Message   Junior65 Username: Junior65 Registered: 07-2005 Posted on Saturday, July 30, 2005 - 6:45 pm:    Hi there, I have a 78 Musician, I believe it is a MC150DS, with the Ibanez inlaid on the headstock. I was told that this is pretty rare. It is in my opinion in 8.5/10 condition. Any idea on the value? Any help greatly apprecciated. An MC150 in good shape should fetch $300-$350 - they have bolt-on necks and are not as desirable as the next models up which are all neck-thrus. The inlaid "Ibanez" (if you mean inlaid in MOP or abalone as opposed to gold letters) appears to be fairly rare. I have an MC300 with the MOP/abalone(?) inlay and someone else posted on this forum which such an inlay. Otherwise all the ones I seen have gold lettering. That's about all I know. Anyone else? My Musician is a neck through, and I thought it was a 150 because there's no tri sound switches, just 2 vol and 2 tone. And for the $350 I paid for it, I think it's a steal. It's probably the best guitar I've ever owned. The only drawback is that the thing weighs a ton.   Jeffm725 Username: Jeffm725 Registered: 06-2005 Posted on Wednesday, August 03, 2005 - 5:55 pm:    yup, they're heavy alright but that is where you get that sweet neckthrough tone and sustain. The other guitarist in my band could not believe how heavy my musician was the first time he picked up my case (that aluminum flight case is not on the flimsy side either). It literally is twice as heavy in the case as his tele in the classic fender tweed case. You will get used to it. I gig with it 3-4 times a week 3-4 hours a night and dont notice it anymore. It could be worse, it could be an Artwood doubleneck! ;-)   Eadams Username: Eadams Registered: 01-2005 Posted on Wednesday, August 03, 2005 - 7:37 pm:    I've got a 2710 which ways about the same as most musicians I believe and I found a great solution. Its a neoprene strap. Part of it is adjustable woven nylon like a standard strap but the bit that rests over your shoulder is springy neoprene (kind of like real thick spandex). It feels like it takes pounds off of the guitar without sapping any of the lovely sustain. I can't remember who makes the strap but I can find out. Definitely worth consideration by anyone looking for some back/shoulder pain relief.   Junior65 Username: Junior65 Registered: 07-2005 Posted on Wednesday, August 03, 2005 - 9:19 pm:    I'm getting used to it. I have a 3.5 inch wide leather strap for it now. That made a big difference on my shoulder. I got my neck-thru artist based on what I had heard about vintage Ibanez guitars and the information I got here. I haven't found a guitar I enjoy playing more...the closest I have played is my co-workers sgruggs w/ vine inlay. The quality level of these guitars is astonishing. I'm glad it's relatively unknown, because it keeps the prices down. I've played guitars that are priced at over twice what I payed for mine that don't play or sound as nice as what I have. I never thought I would buy a guitar on Ebay but I am so pleased with the result. I should really thank everyone here for the information I have obtained. You all have set me up with a life long instrument that I will cherish. The thing is a beast, but I wouldn't trade it for the world.
