A while I remember someone from Maryland who was selling a bunch of vintage Ibanez guitars. I wonder if this is the same person using a different eBay name. He's certainly not a newbie to Ibanez guitars. There are some real goodies here, albeit, most of which are priced very high and have been relisted at a slightly lower price than the original listed price. I know we've already covered this, however, it's still an impressive display.

There was a guy named frank from MD who had a tremendous collection of Ibanez...I sold him a AR500, and he sold me a AR5000..He dumped a bunch of rare birds a year or so ago....might be the same guy. I'm not buying that these are just random guitars showing up at some shop like the auction are written..This is someones collection. The prices are kinda absurd at this point and no one is nibbling yet. As much as I have been known to bid on anything tasty , I cannot bring myself to pay these prices.....

Yes, I agree that this is someone's collection. I have been watching the auctions. Someone placed a bid on the 2622 at over $2K and then retracted it. Regarding the PUE5 Tube, it didn't sell and then it was relisted with a BIN and it immediately sold at $299. Obviously, an arrangement had been made. Currently, there is a bid on one of the guitars.

Check out that Euro link. If I understand correctly, there's an MC550 listed at 400 Euro which is $500 USD. A bargain!

Notice the two headstock are different. Has someone replaced the 12 string headstock or cut it back and converted it to 6 string?

Yeah I noticed that. What a shame because a fretless guitar sounds like crap! I tried one and you cant do chords on it!

Isn't Olivia's in Maryland? Looks like their stock. If so.... maybe they are hiding from their reputation of way overpriced stuff?

Artfield I thought that the guy that plays the semi-fretless was awsome.

Yeah speaking of fretless players - back in 1998 I saw Pat Metheny at Villa Montalvo and during his show he did this one number with a (Linda Manzer) fretless guitar - I believe a nylon string with some kind of snyth pickup in it. Oh man, it was amazing !!!!! He destroyed the audience - seeing the instrument and then hearing what sounds hhe made come out of it and what did with it... amazing.

If Pat Metheny played a Sears guitar it would sound good so...

Bobzilla,
Funny you say that - I remember a story I read on the PMG Garage forum about Pat sitting in at a gig when the Group had toured Russia. Anyway he goes to some club after his gig: he's recognized in the crowd and the band asks him if he wants to sit in on a couple of tunes. He obliges, gets up on the bandstand and is using some strange Russian guitar and the crowd's stunned - on this junker guitar he sounds just like he's playing his old 50's ES175... I'm convinced half the time that instruments themselves are only a small contribution to the sound an artist gets - the majority of it is in their hands and technique...

It IS the hands and technique ALWAYS. Guitars, Amps and Effects are colors on your pallette but your hands, especially the right hand, is where your 'sound' comes from
