Given its condition, it may go cheaply. Maybe someone handy is interested?

A few folks have their eyes on this one Michael. So.... I doubt it will go "cheaply" even though it has SIGNIFICANT damage. My guess... it goes for $1500.

It should go for a grand but.... my guess is.... it will be an ICW member and... $1500. I guess we will soon find out. Someone on this site is picturing this axe re-finished and they're also figuring what it's worth after the re-fin.

The last 2681 that was hacked up to accommodate a new bridge went for just over a grand. This may be chipped a bit, but its structurally sound. I would think the AV finish would warrant at least $300-500+ on these. You don't see them everyday. But the mismatched tuner is a bit of a bummer too. 1500 may be a bit on the high side. I have noticed the interest in 2681s to be dropping of late, and the prices have been reflective of that.

We also should consider that there are other fruit on the tree, so to speak. The other desirables that have recently been listed, AR500, Moderne, Scruggs, Set neck LP copy, CW CA et. al. will most likely have an effect by dividing the attention of serious would-be buyers.

The most important thing here though, as Dave has pointed out, is that the seller is a newbie. I emailed him/her as soon as this was listed and have yet to get a response. That concerns me. They will take Paypal, which helps a bit, but I've grown suspicious lately of any seller that doesn't respond to questions.

I may or may not go after it...All depends on if I get the CW CA

I heard from this seller. I made him an offer, he said "I will keep your e-mail address" It took him a few days to respond.

Michael:

This one is interesting because it is a Nov. '77 with typical '78 features: smooth-heel, Gibraltar I bridge and 2 piece, cloud tail.

That neck joint looks a little (pardon the expression Sven) funky to me.

I'm the guy who actually bought those guitars and I need to get new cases for both of them. Since these are rather odd sized I've been having a little trouble. Do any of you have any suggestions on how to find one?

Hi Boogie2

Wow, shelling out on two Weirs in the space of a month!

I had the same problem getting a case for my 2681. Its the length of the guitar that causes a problem.

You may have to consider getting one made.
