Someone was telling me yesterday that there's a difference between some of the clouds. I would give the '04 Cloud a try. If it doesn't fit properly, you could put it on Ebay and get rid of it easily... I think my associates here at Harley have contacts they send parts out to for replating, I will look into that as well. The Part number is: 2QC1JO1G The '04 version looks pretty much like the first version that should be the correct one for your 2622. Although getting a NOS Cloud seems to be the best option, it could be more expensive than buying a new one. Or, as you already mentioned, replate the old one. If there is no heavy pitting (sorry, couldn't resist ) and the nickel layer underneath the gold is still intact, the replating should be no problem... If you want to replate you have to strip the piece down to the bare basematerial anyway. Prior to (re-)plating a series of mechanical and chemical treatments must be given to any metal to get a decent result. These treatments will kill your nickel layer anyway. If you start working on the, old, passified, nickel layer right away (long term) troubles with the top layer are unavoidable and I think replating is way too expensive to do the job halfhearted. The rest of the gold should be removed completely though. I agree that the nickel could be damaged if this will be done by electrolysis, so some chrome polish will do the trick... You're right that if the nickel layer shows a lot of wear and/or is pitted, so it can't be polished properly anymore, the plating has to be removed completely down to the raw zinc. In that case the plating would be a lot of work and therefore pretty expensive, so getting a new or NOS part would maybe make more sense... One of my next projects will be the restauration of the heavy corroded hardware of my MC300 NT: Of course it would wiser to install NOS parts but I'd like to check out the possibilities... Juergen
