When was their 'prime' period and what kind of prices are we talking about?

Michael:

Unless you read Japanese, it's not that easy to find in-depth info on the Greco brand.

I've toured the site (and it's links) that Snowjays listed and found a few more, but have not really come up with much more.

Hey Michael,

You're looking for info on Greco's eh? Well, its few an far between, but usually the model number is the price of the guitar in dollars. So an SE700 would retail at 700 dollars (today, it was actually more in US dollars due to the stronger yen back then). I think, though Im not sure why or where I got this idea, that the later 70s to around 81 are the best years for greco...up until fender went over there and started slappin their logos on the guitars. I have a site here, http://www.guitarsjapan.com/grecoinfopage.html. There are links at the bottom. While the sites i think are in japanese, if you click around you can find out the catalogs of the guitars with large enough pictures to figure out what the guitar you might be looking at on ebay is. Hope that helps, but thats as much info I have on grecos. In fact ifyou look at yahoo japan, there are a bunch of grecos for really cheap on there....but they dont ship internationally in most cases. Have you looked at Tokai guitars from the early 80s? there is a good deal more information on them (and in english) through the tokai registry website (just google that).
