Author Message   Lonewolf Username: Lonewolf Registered: 12-2005 Posted on Monday, December 26, 2005 - 11:40 pm:    Hello everyone, I'm new both to this site and to Ibanez guitars in general. In about 1987, I was given an electric guitar by my cousin. He had it in his attic for a number of years, and he had acquired it from another cousin years before. It was in working condition then, although to be quite honest it wasn't really the best player in the world. I'm sorry, but I don't currently have any photos of the guitar I can upload, but I'll try to remedy that in the next few days. I'll do my best to describe it. It is a red and black Jazzmaster imitation, and has a mirror chrome metal pick guard. It has two pickups, white interior with chrome frames around them controled by two white switches marked "MIC 1" and "MIC 2". It has a third white switch marked with "R <--> S" located down by the tone and volume knobs. The chrome bridge was a saddle style like the Mustangs, and it has a strange tremolo unit that I've never seen before. It's a long, flat steel handle that you pull up on as opposed to pressing down. From what I saw at www.sixties-ibanez.com, the neckplate exactly matches the 67-69 specs in that it's 4.5 cm x 7 cm, with the small "Japan" stamp being centered between the top two screws. That would correspond to the right date in which the guitar would have been purchased (I was told years ago by my aunt that they had bought it in the late sixties for their son). Another unique aspect is that the strap button is screwed into the back of the neck as opposed to the top of the body. The neck is 21 frets with inlaid dot fret markers on the 3, 5, 7, 9, 12 (double),15 and 17. The truss rod cover is a black "bell" shaped plastic with a white border. The tuners are individual held on with two screws each. The headstock is a Strat style. Any information on this guitar would be greatly appreciated. I am missing a few minor parts and would like to get it up and playing again. As I said before, it's not a great instrument - the action is really high and the sound is only marginally acceptable.
