Serial nr. 3??? No year, no month. It's indeed an obvious refinish. It's a mica finish with abalone/MOP effect. This kind of finish is NOT typical for the late 70s. My cousin works at Merck Chemical in Germany, they make these pigments and paints, (like they made the colour for Viagra, the only colour they ever SOLD for many millions instead of licensing it). I could ask him how old this type of paint is. Star tuners, lefty graphite nut definitely.. And last, but not least, very shady serial n:o.. Ibanez way to make serials, as often discussed here, was to fill the impressed numbers with golden "putty", there are really impressed numbers underneath.. Very limited number 3... All PF:s would have a proper serial, I guess.. The shielding in the cavity was also removed , presumably so it could be painted. Another vintage PF bites the dust. Was it likely a black finish originally? Why would the s/n be removed/refinished? In 1978 the PF300 was available in at least 9 different colours. AM was just one of them, so was AV. I checked only ONE catalogue, it's possible they added other colours during the later years. Notice the "sparkle" in there and notice the "sparkle" on the axe. I smell a trout, a salmon and a sand shark. Something is fishy. Not much sparkle really. He is the same guy who tried to sell an AS100 with a BIN of 2K or make an offer. Read the thread "AS100 on the bay for holiday money" Finally he lowered the BIN to $1050.- and sold it. What's obvious, is that he's a salesman. Always looking for something special not for his own collection, but just for the profit. He sold 50 guitars in the $1000-2000 range during the last 30 days. We are talking about a circa $80,000.- turnover during the last month. From the description of the work of "some idiot", I understand that he recently bought the guitar and that he's not a collector who's cashing after many years.
