Can anyone tell me what sort of Vol & Tone knobs were on the 1977 model Bob Weirs.
And where I might obtain some from?

Cheers

I have a model 2681 and it has the gold transparent knobs with white numbers. I had some work done on my guitar years ago and the place I took it to had some that were very similiar. Have you asked a repair shop if they have them? How many do you need? I may be able to get some.

oops...forgot to mention that I bought mine in fall of 1976 so I am assuming the knobs are the same.

Gold barrel knobs were used on the Weir at that time. If you are familiar with early 50's Les Pauls they are the same shape knobs as those.

However, not all knobs you find these days will fit the Ibanez pots. Don't buy and then try to force them on or you could damage the pot spindle or crack the knob inside.

Also, be very careful making adjustments to the gap between the two halves that stick out the top of the pot. These can easily snap clean off if you use too much pressure to widen or close the gap. Once they are snapped off it's a good bye to the pot as you cannot fix the damage.

Best thing to do is take the guitar along and see if they have any that fit in the store but don't let the shop Monkey do the job for you. See the repair guy.

You can also keep an eye out for the correct ones on ebay.

Hope this helps .

By the way. Is that Gazz in Oz who wanted the Super 80? Sorry I lost your email if it is. Drop me a line again if you are still interested.
