Hey John...whats the story on this puppy? (I'm assuming it's you the seller is referring too)

Item: Vintage Ibanez Artist AS-200 (7385771827)
This message was sent while the listing was active.
praiseplayer4him is the seller.

Hi, I wasn't able to change the reserve on the re-listing. The last listing was ended with an offer of $1000. So I will offer to do the same. My research leads me to believe that this is a prototype run guitar. The AS-200 model for resale wasn'r put into productin until 1981, if you can believe the story with John at the Ibanez website.

Pitviper:

Well, I'm not sure what message of mine he's referring to regarding production starting in '81. According to his serial number, his would be a Dec. '79 vintage.

If someone can point to a message where I state that the AS200 went into production in '81, then I'll publically retract it. I own a '79 and '81 AS200, myself. VERY doubtful that his is a prototype of some sort.

I wouldn't call this statement, totally accurate: "This guitar was based on the model crafted for John Scofield." This guitar IS exactly what John Scofield plays and it is the model that the newer JSM100 signature guitar is based on. Also, it has an ebony fretboard, not rosewood, as stated in the auction desc.

Right now the auction is at $510.00 with over 6 days to go. This guitar could easily go to $1200.00.
