IF ANYONE HERE WINDS UP WITH ONE OF THESE GUITARS... AND IT'S EVEN HALF AS DECENT AS MY '83 AR1200AV... YOU WILL BE A HAPPY CAMPER, IT'S REALLY A NEAT GUITAR AND I AM STILL AMAZED AT THE FEEL OF BOTH NECKS. THEY BOTH PLAY LIKE BUTTER. To me, It's got a wider/flatter neck than the 2622 and the mc500, kinda like a Gibson acoustic guitar (width) feel to the neck. I forget which is supposed to be heavier, the earlier ones or the later ones but the '83 is quite manageable. You can get through a set with it anyway. Then... you'll want to sit down and have a beer. The pups get the job done on both sides (6 side/12 side) too. And for some reason, when folks see it, they sorta gravitate to it and say oooooooooooooh and ahhhhhhhhhhhhh stuff. I haven't seen any AR-1200 cases with the blue interior, only the green. Also, the pearloid tuners give it a different look compared to the gold finish of the regular velve tuners. I like the pearl! Considering a switcharoo. My mc500 has the pearl's and they actually keep the thing in perfect tune. I was surprised about that. very surprised. nevertheless, the pearlies keep the mc500 in fine tune and I wouldn't mind the pearls on my ar1200av. (I'd keep the original tuners around.) The axe in this thread is still at apprx. $1700 as of 2/6/06, with over 6 days to go. There should be a flurry of activity near auction end and maybe a few bids before that. Maybe $2500 is a stretch, but I have a feeling it may get there. Plus, you know what... If I had to have this guitar and I had to pay $2500, I'd kinda think it's worth it. The guitar lasts for years and years, it's not like you pay the $2500, eat it, and it's gone. For the amount of enjoyment you'd get owning this guitar over the years, it may very well be worth that. Plus... I've never seen one in this finish. How often do they come around? How often would you get a shot at one exactly like this? Not the greatest guitar in the world but a really neat one. If I had the $$$ that this one is gonna go for, I'd actually try for it... but I don't right now. I've never seen another one exactly like this one. It's neat to see and whoever gets it will most likely be very happy and they probably won't let go of it for a while. I considered selling my ar1200av and putting the cash towards this one but... if I let mine go and lost the auction I'd be pretty upset with myself. An ICW member ( a few of them) have expressed interest in my ar1200av so I don't think I'd have a hard time selling it. Winning the other guitar auction is an "indefinite" that I am not willing to try (at the loss of the one in hand.)I hope someone on this site gets that guitar, post photos and tells us all about it. He is saying expect between $400 and $500 or more shipping overseas. That is a considerable consideration I'd say. And... are we SURE that's a cs finish? My 2640 is identical except for the tuners and in all the pictures I have it is not nearly as red as the Ebay one. If this were CS, the center would be more yellow, no? And if it were CW, it would not have a "burst" pattern at all. I'm unaware of any cherry wine burst. But that certainly doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. We've all seen some pretty strange variations over the years. I emailed the seller to ask them for a comparison of how it looks in person to the picture and if the outer rim is in fact that red.
