Ok.. I just bought a 1977 Ibanez 2619.. I believe it's a transitional model. I will try and post a pic. I'm wondering what kind of pickups are on it. I know that's it's either Super 70's or Super 80's. But I'm really not sure which... H776141 is on the neck... Abalone inlay around the guitar Ect....

Any help would be appreciated!

Speaking of 2619s, here's a '78 2619:

Hope it's been better cared for than that SG in the background!

And what a great feature...you can plug it straight in to the wall outlet and bring down the house!!

Strings:

That SG is also up for auction. Early, round-cornered fretboard, triple pickups, Bigsby-like trem and "sail" lawsuit headstock. I believe the tuners are replacements:

Ahh! She's a looker too! Although, I never understood Gibson's approach to trems on the SG and Les Paul...seem like they led the Ibanez folks (and a few others) down the same path.

BTW John, why have I never seen your collection displayed out here? Also, which is your favorite (sound and feel) model between '76 and '86? ... Or do you have to remain impartial being the Admin and all?

John, you are a man of finest furniture! Gorgeous!!

Did your '85 AR 305 come without a cloud?? Or, were they born that way?

Wow John, nice collection. It's truly amazing to see some of the collections that some of you have. Where do you keep all of these guitars and how impossible it must be to grab your favorite when someone calls up for a jam session!

Strings: Thanks for the kind words. The '85 AR305SE had no cloud from the factory.

Frank: I keep a couple of the acoustics at my work office for slow or stressful days. The rest are in my home office. I recently got a 7 unit guitar stand. But have never had more than 3 guitars on it. The rest are in their cases and they are stacked on top of each other.

Getting them all out for displaying and picture taking is an ordeal. I can't imagine how much work it is for some of the members who have hundreds of guitars.

I only play a few of them regularly: AS200, S3040, GB12, GB10, Artfield. Others see infrequent action: AM205, AR305, AR300, 2622, 2618, AF207, SZ520. The Scruggs and 2617 are showpieces that I don't want to take any chances with.

John,

Did you get the email I sent you in reference to Hoshino?

Well, I suppose the logical follow up to Strings' question is: Do any of the Artists with tremelos have a cloud tailpiece?
