On one photo there can be clearly seen one "trade secret", eg. the "reinforcement dowels" those round (or in this one halfround) hardwood dowels inserted in neck joint. On smooth-heel Artists they are round, and instead of being vertical, they are horizontal with several degrees of downward slope, and are inserted from neck pickup routing. Is that straplock pin (Dunlop??) recessed in that waterlogged or by some other means spoiled body? If you can get it for around the value of the parts, them any attempt at a restore makes sense to me. The tricky thing is that neck pocket and neck tang. If its not real tight and at the correct angle it could be a bear to get set up correctly. It looks (to me anyway) that the issue with this guitar is that it was exposed to a lot of moisture at one time and that could swell the wood inside the unprotected pocket and the tang. If you can't get the neck to re-align with the correct angle, the guitars action will be either too high or too low but-either way-out of the range for a Truss Rod adjustment..... If your real handy it can be made whole again, but it could involve a LOT of work if the pocket is compromised. If this guitar was closer--I'd give it a go as long as the bidding didn't get too crazy....   Steved1 Username: Steved1 Registered: 4-2007 Posted on Friday, April 27, 2007 - 6:49 pm:    Thanks Dave, I got some more photos from the owner and it looks like a major repair job...this guitar has seen some serious immersion in water and the body top piece is buckled and coming off the bottom, and the hardware is severely annodised like something that's been sitting in the ocean for a while....too hard for me but would love to know the real story behind this guitar....maybe recovered from a shipwreck??????   Pitviper Username: Pitviper Registered: 8-2005 Posted on Friday, April 27, 2007 - 7:10 pm:    If it did hit water, my bet is on the wife or girlfriend throwing it into the lake.
