Any remedy for backbowed neck?

I meant funkle.lol   Strings Username: Strings Registered: 01-2005 Posted on Thursday, February 23, 2006 - 8:18 pm:    Funkle, Wrecks et al: Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that, on all guitars, when you TIGHTEN the truss rod it straightens the natural bow (and ofsets string tension) of the neck...no? If so, and yours is totally loose, maybe you simply need to tighten it. Go a 1/2 turn clock-wise (as you look at the head) at a time until you get close...1/4 turns for fine truing. Thanks Freak!   Mrmike Username: Mrmike Registered: 01-2006 Posted on Friday, February 24, 2006 - 3:38 pm:    If the neck is backbowed[towards the strings]and the gtr is strung up and tuned to pitch,and the truss rod is still loose,you're in trouble. I would try a heavier gauge of strings;11-49 or 12-52.This may help correct the problem after a while.Don't let anyone talk you into a 'heat press';they DO NOT work! I repair gtrs for a living and see this all the time.Good Luck!
