I got myself an 89 540s (see other thread; 540s old newbie) and am wondering about the smaller toggle switch. Is this a coil tap? Which position is which and for which pickup (or is for whichever PU/PUs the 3 way is set to?) "Up" is both coils, down is one?

I suspect this is causing a pretty bad buzz when in the 'up' positon.

If you're getting buzz in the up position, that would indicate up = single, down = double. From the limited experience I've have with coil tap guitars, this would be the normal setup.
