Not sure. I think you are well protected by using PayPal. And the seller seemed like a nice and straight-up guy.

Just make sure it has full insurance, which I'm sure you will.

Perhaps you can fire "Yogi" an email to get his take on the matter as he has some experience with this scenario from Italy to his country and chose to have a customs agent pick it up(?). Although, I think this will work out fine between you and the seller.

The axe has been very well cared (which says a lot about the owner) for from what I've seen and is gorgeous!!

Best,
Eric

I was also tempted and got the same photos he sent you plus a blurred one of the back. Being in Australia made the overall cost too high once postage was added in and taking into account the exchange rate. Pity. Still, I was watching until the end and thought that no-one was going to grab it. Congratulations on what looks like a good buy.
Nice guitar,

James

I was tempted too, not least coz i could have had it delivered to me personally in Brussels, but it's a bit out of my league.

He seems a very friendly guy (hence his delivery offer), good luck and congrats on a great axe!

Scorch:

The seller offered to have his friend (who comes to NY often) personally deliver it to me in NYC. If you or someone you know is near NYC, maybe you can arrange for a cash-on-delivery deal?

Hmmm, I think anytime you find a 9/10 mint AR500 from that era under $1,500.00 is an absolute steal in my not-so-humble-opinion.

Not sure you'll find one priced this way in that condition often enough.

$65 US. Can't wait till it gets here!!!!!! Pictures did depict a near mint specimen. Hope it holds true in person as well.

That guitar was discussed before in this thread:

http://www.ibanezcollectors.com/discus/messages/12/15073.html?1140983573

You should be glad that you've been outbid 'cause if the seller's claim is true and there is really a 'Modern Talking' connection, it would mean that the guitar is cursed

But maybe the seller will contact you with a second chance offer, who knows...

'Modern Talking' is one of the most hated pop acts in Germany. The duo formed in the '80s and temporarily reunited some years ago. They were unfortunately very successful once again with their "music" that only can be described as 'sonic torture'.

Hey Bob,
I thought you and I were going to pull the trigger on this one at the same time. I didn't snipe it. I just watched the auction with a stop watch running. It seemed risky with the sellers feedback, but the guy went out of his way to meet my arrangements. Guitar is in route to its new home. I'll post better picts. when it arrives. You'll nail one soon I'm sure.
Peace!!!

Tube... I didn't know it was even available. I started a new job about 10 days ago and I've been so consumed by it that I haven't even been on line much lately. I do have some tax $$$ coming to me soon, plus my new job is a significant raise in salary so.... next one I see is mine mine mine mine mine. I am glad you got yours. I am sure you're pretty excited. If you could do me a favor and plug it in and whack it about for a bit, then let me know how it is, I've never actually played an ar500. But, as you know, I want one pretty badly. Post Photo's please. P.S. - How much did it run you?

Tube... that would be nice and... nice price too. Congrats on that. I knew that if I (we) took our time, a fair price would rear it's head. I'd say you did extremely well there and I am jealous but extremely happy for you. MP3 is good for me. I sold a bike for a friend on ebay for $30,000 a few days ago, he is taking care of me with some $$$ which I'd be happy to put towards an ar500. See one... lemme know. Can't get on line as much at my new job and I've never owned a computer at home (can you believe that? I gotta get one.

Old news Bob...I had a few more hi-res pics from this seller that I sent to you as you asked Scorch for some. I sent them to the linked email (at HD) in your handel at the left of each post.

You should update your ICW account to link your hotmail account to your handle so you don't miss good stuff.

Best,

Hey Guys,
She finally arrived. Take a close look the way it was shipped!!!! When I opened the case I felt nausea. It was the dirtiest guitar I've seen. I stripped it down to do a fine tooth comb detailing. It wasn't as mint as the pictures indicated. It has some dings, chips to the bare wood on the edges. The tuners are shot. Considerable fret wear as well. I set it up and I'm still getting a buzz on the G string at the 12th fret and 14th fret. Cleaned the electronics and there all fine now. After putting this effort into this and finally plugging in, I've been ripping it up on this beast and I believe it is an awesome guitar. The sound is incredible. The EQ comes in handy on clean tones with both pickups. It can almost give it an Acoustic/electric quality. I just have to iron out the fret issue on the G string. It's totally playable but bugs me. Here are some picts as promised. My favorite I call The Three Little Artists. Sounds like a good kid book.
Peace All

Thanks Guys,
Michael the AR300 is an 82. It is dead mint. Frets still aren't broken in. The AR105 is an 82 as well. That was my best Christmas present ever. I was 14. I played the out of it till around 88. Then just cased it. I'm done buying Artists now unless I happen on an AR5000 at a yard sale for $250. Yeah Right!

Wow, what an interesting experience. I'm surprised the seller didn't pack the guitair at all. Did the guitar have additional packing on the inside?

It looks like it cleaned up nicely, but yeah, that's always disgusting to clean someone elses grime off a guitar. Hope you wore exam gloves ;)

I'm not usually a big fan of the Cherry Sunburst - but when you've got flame like that, and the burst is done as evenly as that one - you've got a real winner!

Looks like you did a nice job of cleaning it up if it was as dirty as you said. That is one nice guitar. Congrats!

Thanks

That AR500 is really a beauty, congrats!

An original case of that period should have a silver colored plastic inlay in the handle like this:

Hello, all. I'm new here - been searching for about 2 weeks for info on vintage Ibanez electrics. I'm looking for info on the '2700' pictured above - if that's what it is. Does anyone have any more info on this model, links, catalogs, etc.

Git man....There is very little info published on this model. This model only appeared in the supplemental cat that you refered to on the other thread. This guitar was also available in Natural (just like the MC500NT, and Black)
