Yes, this is the place I bought my Cowboy. I ck their website occasionally to see if this last one is still available. Not suprised he has'nt sold it, I think he's asking a bit much. I did ask him recently how much he would sell it for and he told me that his US price would be the same that I bought mine for and I can tell you it was a lot less than what he's asking.

mk,

Do you know what he means when he says the invoice is without vat? What is vat? Is this some type of tax?

It's a European tax, kind of like our sales tax, however, my understanding is that you don't have to pay the tax if you export it.

That's different, and yes, it sucks, especially when is comes as a surprise. That happened to me when I purchased something in Canada. I learned me lesson: ask first!

btw...someone posted recently that some shippers may include the duty in the shipping cost and others may not.

mk,

Maybe you should make this guy an offer for the Cowboy, you never know he may let it go for a lot less than what he's asking. He has had it for quite a while and I'm sure he already paid for it. Also it was my understanding that he kept one for himself so he needs to sell this one. I think he's asking a high price because he sold 2 of them in a matter of weeks and figures they are still a very hot item, however this one has been on his website since late January.

VAT is "Value Added Tax" in the UK and is paid on top of the total cost and about 3% Customs duty.

Nasty B*st#rds take 17.5% VAT off everyone if you import from the rest of the world but you're okay if you're shipping in from Europe.

Re VAT
Many years ago when I worked in a music store there was two rates of VAT in the UK. 6% for non luxury items (could have been 12%) and a whopping 25% for luxury goods i.e. anything electrical. So if we sold an acoustic guitar it was lower rate and if it was electric then it was 25%. Thing’s got really interesting if you were selling a guitar strap – is it for an acoustic or electric ? What rate to charge ? Happy days !
