wotcha,

Just got me a 2460 (L5 CES copy) archtop. There's no serial no. on the headstock nor label inside the guitar; I gather from reading previous posts this dates the guitar to before mid-1975 (pre-lawsuit)?

I just checked the backs of the pickups and there's a serial no: 25610, on each one, stamped in ink. The 1 isn't printed that clearly so it might be something else, and there's some solder on the other pickup blocking some of the numbers; but I'm pretty sure they both read the same serial no. 25610.

Are these super 70s? The seller thought they were super 58s. Would appreciate any info anyone can shed on this...

cheers.

Greetings!

Nice find. A picture would be helpful although going by your description they are probably early versions of the Super 70 pickup but without the "Super70" engraved into the base plate.

Do they still have the gold covers on?

yep, still got the gold covers on; the gold plating has rubbed off a little mind. The covers are soldered on at the back, where the bridge pickup has some sort of earth wire(?) coming off it.

They give a lovely warm tone, pretty heavy bottom end on the neck, but this can be controlled with the amp/pots. I love this guitar!

Sorry- shoulda snapped some pics while I had them out- will re-string the guitar soon so may take some then (you'd need to see the backs, right?)...
