1981 AS-50 Question

As far as I know, the first time the AS-50 was shown with Super 58s was in the '82 catalog. However, my AS-50 was made in November '81 and it has original Super 58s. My guess is that '81 was a transition year. Does anyone here have an early '81 AS-50? Judging from the speed knobs, it should be an early 1981.
