I know I'm going to regret this, but MCG hospital doesn't care! I have a great 2000 AS 80 with Super 58s and upgraded Gotoh 510 tuners. It comes in a hardshell TKL case.

Recently set up with flat wound 12s. Action, intonation and neck...sweet!

The only issue at all (and it's ONLY cosmetic) are three tiny cracks in the neck binding at a couple of the frets. They are not in the wood, nor do they affect anything structural. You'd probably never notice is I didn't tell you...but it's best to keep everything up front.

Plays and sounds great, though honestly, I'm an acoustic player and trying to lead worship from the electric has just frustrated me...so when I need money...it goes to the chopping block before the acoustics.

Here are some pix...

Wide headstock, wolf ears, year 2000, made by Cort, so if it's original there is only ONE type of pickups possible: Super 58.

Because these are later Super 58 (but still AlNiCo), they have 2 adjustment screws. The old Japanese Super 58's from the '80s had 3 adjustment screws, but I can assure you that the Koreans are really good. IF there is something wrong with the sound of these boxes, it's mostly the potmeters and capacitors. (Read the old thread of Ratfinks3, in which we describe the procedure of Gibsonizing an AS80) These pickups are excellent.

Thanks for the clarity Ginger. I knew there would be someone here who could answer that question! There is another one on ebay just like mine but in crappier shape without the upgraded Gotohs or hardshell case. You would rather buy mine!

BTW...I would very much like the first option to buy this guitar back from whomever ends up with it. It's a great guitar, but I need the cash more than the guitar right now.

Thanks.

Later Mike decided that he needed a better toggle switch, and he thought that a Gibson switch was better. I knew that Gibson doesn't make them, but buys them from Switchcraft.

So that was the final step: a switchcraft switch.

They should be. Mike ones wrote that a pair of his needed MORE wax, after he saw a few MIJ Super 58's. But his wife makes and sells wax candles, and he already confiscated her old deep fryer. He likes to hobby with that stuff. I don't think it was really necessary.
The ones that give troubles are Super 50's, which were used in the Samick narrow heads. So any AS80 or AS120 that doesn't have an S-serial # is good.
IF you really want a narrow headstock, you should take a C-serial #, because Cort installed only Super 58's, never Super 50's.
