FS?: Ibanez Artist 1981

I am thinking about selling it, but I am in two minds. In Australia it was sold to me as an AR-5000, but I think that internationally it is the AR-2000 model. It is a 1981, in very good condition with only one changed part, the white ring between the pickup selector ring and the body disintegrated. Colour: Antique Violin Top: Flamed Maple Body: Mahogany Hardware: Gold Fretboard: Ebony I am interested in offers, or any advice on what it is worth and how to sell this guitar. I have no reason not to sell this OS, but it would be preferable to sell in Australia because of shipping costs. But I'd say it was an AR500. When I took it in they kept saying AR5000, but when I bought it they said AR2000. I definitely knew about the tree of life aspect for the AR5000, just did not know that was the difference. All I can say is it is a beautiful guitar, probably built at the time when Ibanez were really evolving. I have had the guitar recently set up with .10s and everything works beautifully. Cameron Berthold (our beloved Captain, of the Captain Ibanez section) works for them and probably held this puppy in his hands when it's passport got stamped coming in from Japan in '81. I have asked David to get that beauty out in the sunshine for a proper photo shoot and put it on Ebay in all its glory. This thing is mint condition and even comes with the original battery tester and unopened tool bag in its original case. Come on you Artist nuts out there...loosen up the wallet or the wall safe and bag yourselves a bargain. I have done a bit of soul searching and have decided to keep it. I took it to the studio and used it again in a recording for a friend and it is such an enjoyable instrument. I do agree with what John said above. Austrailian prices are WAY higher than the US. If you want to eBay it list it in Japan as well! I sold an AR 500 over there a while ago and got much more than any US offers. Either way you should get at least $1100 US for it. Send it to one of your cousins to sell but better still keep it for yourself they dont make them like this anymore. It's amazing that it's better than a Les Paul of the same age but then they are three times the price. They are awesome just like Geoff says! This one is awesome and you really can't get a better "other" guitar for the amount of money you get for this one. Even if you got $2K US, which I am uncertain about, what can you buy to replace it? I've been watching the Artist series on eBay for the past 4 years, regularly. AR 500s seldome come up but when they do they don't get near 2K US. They top out at 1500 US. Unless you have a wine red or a black one which seems to have a mysteriously greater value due to thier rarity. Even though your flamed out AR500 is much nicer. Good luck if you do decide to sell.
