Michael -

I tried to send you an e-mail regarding one of the guitars you have up for sale and it was kicked back telling me that it is being challenged.

What do I do next?

Do we discuss business in this thread?

Please advise.

Thanks,

Mike,
thanks for looking, that is a 1980+ Destroyer, I am looking for a 1975-1980 Destroyer. I know someone has got one somewhere. I guess Peter just found one.

Cleversj -

Yes, on The Gear Page.

I just did a quick check on several sites and only found D-IIs.

I was under the mistaken impression that you only wanted the Korina flavor (like myself).

At this point, all I want is either a 76 or 77 Korina. Anything else I find I will send to you.

Just out of curiosity, how much time each day (week, month) do you spend searching online and/or making phone calls looking for just the Destroyer?

I think you two guys could call a truce, flip a coin or something, and the next Korina that comes up on eBay, just one of you bids for it and gets it for half what you've bid them up to before. Then the other guy gets the next one at half price too.

;-)

Peter,
I generally spend some time on the Net everyday unless I am not able (for job reasons) to get on line.
I am not aware of any of the other sites or avenues to look. I saw two last year on eBay and the seller had one that didn't make starting bid. I have emailed him several times and have never received a reply.
I really ant a nice one as I have too many junkers in the collection.

If you don't mind me contacting you offline, I'll shoot you a list of sites I check.

Everything seems to have dried up for the time being, though.

Even the D-IIs are getting scarce.

Let me know.

I saw them. I couldn't believe it until I looked closely at the Futura.

I already have a 76 RRS but I'm bidding on the Futura.

It needs some restoration work (the bridge, the tailpiece, the pickups, the pickguard, probably the pots, ...) but I'm hoping I can bring it back eventually.

Also, I am bidding on the V, how high do you think it will go?

Jack -

I'd be scared to even try to guess.

It seems like ever since the Destroyer prices started taking off everybody seems to think their "odd shaped guitar" is worth every bit as much.

I paid $1500 for my 76 RRS but it has all the original hardware, including the pup covers.

I can't tell by looking at the photos in the eBay auction but a couple of things to ask (if you haven't already):

- where's the other strap button? On the 76 RRS there were three of them: one on the back at the base of the neck and then one on each point.

- is the rubber (plastic?) lap pad still on the side of the guitar? If you were playing right handed and sat down with the RRS, there should be a strip of textured rubber on the bottom edge of the guitar to keep it from slipping off your leg.

I don't know what this guy's reserve is for the RRS but it's insane for the Futura. I'm trying to talk him down.

I'll bet his reserve is in the $1200-$1400 range.

Ultimately, price is determined by how badly you want it.

The Destroyer is a special thing for me and I'm willing to pay more than it's "worth".

I would *not* pay that kind of money for either the RRS or the Futura. $1500 would be about my upper limit for either of those, assuming they were in mint condition w/OHSC but that's me.

Do you want the guitar as an investment or simply because you want it?

That makes a difference, too.

I collect because I "want", not as an investment, so that gives me a lot more leeway in terms of the prices I'm willing to pay -- which drives up the prices and makes investors crazy.

The 2007 VG Price Guide lists $1400 as the upper range for a 75-77 RRS.

There's another Korina RRS on eBay, a 75, but it's had some "upgrades":

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=0 14&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=3301 16901809&rd=1&rd=1

I'll send you the site links later today.

Good luck. Hope you win it.

Mike, what guitars do you have that you won't sell no matter what? Just curious. I've seen you part with a few that I myself would have a hard time letting go of. I was thinking of letting the ar1200 go (need money) but just couldn't bring myself to do it. The ones you just indicated are all real nice axes. Good luck with it.

Would you be so kind as to send a few pics of the 2000CS to my email?

It's the only kinda porn I won't get in trouble for looking at, and like you said, "It's Christmas"........ I remember one time we watched porn & it gave her ideas :-) Maybe if she sees me drooling over this, it'll have the same effect.........

What's the ICW Price for her?

Thanks & Happy Holidays!
