Which year or years were these SC500's made? Do they have set necks? Just curious.

I've never seen one of these before. If $600.00 is too much for this guitar, what is fair market value for it?

Found it in the back of the Ibanez book, it was made from 1998 to 1999.

Here's a link that will give you more info that you thought possible on the SC500 - earlier this year I was looking for a thin necked nylon string and got a Lonestar LE450, nice instrument. I had also seen a SC500 and the seller wanted $600.00 for it then. I chose the Lonestar for its skinny neck. Works for me. Here's that link - it has a LOT of photos and info.

Hi Mike,

I have an LE450 nylon string thinline and love it too. How would you compare it against the SC500 if price is not a factor?

I have not played the SC500 at all so could not make a good comparison on the differences between the two. I enjoy my LE450 but I use an LR BAGGS Direct DI eq box to augment the signal. I like the skinny neck of the LE450 and I think the neck on the SC500 is more of a classical width. Someone in the know please chime in on that.

hi bgmk
i just purchased an sc500n av. great looking and superbly finished axe.
this guitar is an "electrical nylon" in all senses: a sabre equipped with nylon peghead and bridge. the bolt-on, scarfed, radiused neck is equal (i suppose) to that of a normal sabre: 1 11/16 at the nut (43mm), with a very low "c" profile; frets are small, though, similar to classical guitars. it has a very tight and dark rosewood fretboard.
i found the output of this guitar to be rather loud and super sensitive (i had to mount nylon flatwounds to reduce finger hiss). tone can vary a lot tweaking the lows/highs of the active circuit.
i'd like to compare it to the "a la mode" sadowsky nylon tele...

A few years back I played an SC500NT in a little music store on Maui...love at first sight!! Very sweet playing instrument with excellent amplified tone. Reminded me of the Sadowsky model that Lee Ritenour plays. If it had a slightly larger neck, she would have returned to the mainland with me. Never noticed the scarfed neck before. Interesting.

playing nylons with a 43mm-nut-necked guitar isn't easy, you got to get used to it. high tension strings help giving more of a steel feeling. on the other hand this slim neck is great for melody/solo work.
