Jazzz,
What are you doing?
The value of a second hand AS120 ARTSTAR is not comparable to the AS200 ARTSTAR or the older AS200 ARTIST. They're all good, but all different.
If you trade, go for an AS200. But you could also choose to sell the 2355 with a high reserve like Sullystone did, and spend half of the money on an AS120.
Keep the rest (that will be about €450-€600 or $571-$762) in your pocket.

The ARTSTAR guitars are not vintage yet, but they're young and if you treat them well, their value will increase.
If you choose an AS200 ARTIST made in 1986 or earlier, it is already vintage. (They were made from 1981 until 1992)
The AS200 ARTSTAR production started in 1991 and ended 2002, as the Scofield started.

I would try to sell at a high price (with reserve) if I were you, and then you can wait for a good opportunity. No rush...

Good luck,

Ginger

Well, if sold to a fellow member, it will find a good home.
I mostly give my guitars in consignment, when I need to raise some cash. I don't take the risks of receiving unknown people who just come to see if there are more valuables in the house and come back later to "pick them up".
I get what I want after Frank of the music store sold it for 110%. So he gets 10% without investing a penny (or cent, we've got euros here). He's happy, I'm happy.
You need to have a good relationship with the shop owner of course.

For instance:
if you want $1000,- he'd ask $1100,-
if you want $1250.- he'd ask $1375.-
If you want $1500.- he'd ask $1650.-

Think about it. It's just an idea that might save a lot of trouble. But don't do this with a Gibson Les Paul Standard DC (Plus) because they steal them out of the shop. Guitars with no serial number are a risk. It's good when it is placed in a locked glass case.

Jazzzbo,
Tristan (France) was just outbid with €10.- on a pre-lawsuit 2355m on the bay (Germany).
He bid €1100.= or $1410.=
But it was the flame maple not a sunburst.
If yours is a pre-lawsuit too, about $1250.= is reasonable.

Good luck,

Ginger

That was my first association with "elaforge",
but the cost of shipping to Germany are the same as to France.
Are you in the Elsass/Pfälzerwald area? Your e-mail address sounds like "Flammkuchen" to me...

I love it there...

Well, the case with the mail address, Geordi LaForge.. remember him?
He wouldn't let me use his own address, so I decided to add 'E' (E for Ibanez.. Ebanez, hah :-))
and it turned elaforge. It's just a bummer with major email providers, they won't let you choose a simple address, I had to tackle around a bit

I found one all original AS120TR + OHSC, if you want it. Reasonable starting bid + $50.- shipping, ends in 1 day:

There is also a customized AS120TR with EMG 89 PUs and a buckle scratch, no case included, interesting BIN price ending in 2 days:

Johns,

Can you make ICW-friendly links out of these?

I got there through the back door...

Jazzzbo,

It's up to you now.
The original one has excellent transport protection. My AM50 was sent to me in the original case (with a lot of tape) too.
You can remove the glue with benzin, meths alcohol or cologne on a cloth. (last one smells better in the house.)

The free shipping of the EMG customized one makes it very interesting too, if you want to play mainly blues/rock. For jazz I'd prefer the Super 58 PUs. They're both interesting, each one in its own way.

Good luck!

Not a collectors item?
The AS200 is twice the price of an AS120.
You need at $900-1500 for a good one.
And you have competition on the AS200 right now in this very same topic.
You are forcing yourself to sell the 2355 this way, because you create high prices and time pressure if you both go for it at the same time.
