FOR SALE

NOTE: best that research has discovered on this instrument is that it is 1 of 2 Challenger Series strats built in February 1978, that were branded as Silver Series and shipped to Melbourne Australia. This guitar was purchased at Brashes Music in Elizabeth St. Melbourne early that year by me.

1978 Silver Series Strat
One owner since new in 1978
Blonde finish (natural)
Ash body
One piece maple neck and fretboard

Has been a gigging guitar for many years (some marks, nothing serious) and perfectly maintained over all that time, plays fantastic and stays in tune solid as a rock ... fast straight neck good frets.

Original Star tuners (best tuners ever made, I want them on my custom built strat !)

Has custom wiring and pickups:-
Neck - Bill Lawrence Jazz (blade) RARE
Middle - '62 Fender Stratocastor
(staggered pole pieces)
Bridge - Semour Duncun Hot Blade
(splitable double coil to single coil) - mini toggle single/double coil selection switch
3 mini toggle on/off switches
(allow normally unavailable combinations to be selected, neck/bridge and neck/middle/bridge)
Electric Avenue custom string saddles
(no more broken strings, and they work)

Original Ibanez pickups, scratch plate and pickup selector (5 way blade) come with the guitar if restoration to original preferred.

Fender original Texas Special (Stevie Ray Vaughn) single coil staggered pole piece pickup set (3) available on request (brand new)

I made a typing error when I listed this I think, calling it a licensed copy when in fact it is unlicensed, correct ? That whole "lawsuit" thing, am I right ? I tried to alter the listing but it appears that you can't edit an existing listing, only add to it. I'm not even sure about that whole lawsuit thing anyway, does it apply to Fender copies or just Gibson ones ?

Whatever the case, I'm in desperate financial straights right now, so I finally had to sell it. I don't really want to ... but I have no choice.

Ok I just want to notify ICW that this sold today, fortunately to a guy who had bough a Silver Series strat in 1977 and loved it, but broke the neck in an accident and considered it a heartbreak ever since. He's a working musician and now his love is restored ... and he got a realy good rare one to restore it with, I couldn't be happier about losing it considering who got it. He even sets his axes up just like mine, so it was a perfect outcome in the end.

He played it today (through my 60 watt Fender Blues DeVille 212 Deluxe) and I think he's pretty happy about it. B)

Thanks to all you great people at ICW for helping me to figure out the probable history of my once proud baby ... I still have my concord acoustic and I'll rejoin the ranks of you Ibanez electric guitar owners one day when my financial fortunes improve from their current woeful state.

Keep on rockin! (and jazzin and bluesin B)
