That's a brown stained 3 ply maple neck. All mahogany bodies are an option. The ST50BS I bought has a mahogany body colour. But they also exist laminated with a maple center section and either mahogany or ash side sections. With or without walnut accent lamination. I don't know what's the best option for your ears. I think it's the character of the V2 pickups that's hurting them. The Epiphone Sheraton II has a laminated maple neck too and sounds pretty warm to me. I think he same electronics will sound just as loud and shrill in an all mahogany guitar. Mahogany won't kill all your trebles. It's mainly an electromagnetic signal we're talking about, not an acoustic guitar. But there will be different weight and sustain.
