WTB/T: Stock bridge for DT-155

Author Message   Lethargytartare Username: Lethargytartare Registered: 03-2006 Posted on Wednesday, November 22, 2006 - 10:53 am:    I've got this DT155 that has a Washburn Wonderbar trem on it, and the trem seems to have more value by itself than I can get for it on this guitar. So can anyone help identify what the stock bridge was; and then, if anyone has one, I'd be interested in buying it or trading for it -- including a trade involving the Wonderbar if you were so inclined. Assuming no modifications were made to install the Washburn, you should see a recess for the pivot plate between the bridge pickup and the trem cavity if it was a Powerocker. A photo with the Wonderbar removed would help. The nice thing about the Wonderbar is that it's a surface-only mount -- part of its appeal was/is that you don't have to make any routing modifications to use it. I'll post what I find shortly. Hey Steve -- if it IS, can you tell me anything about it from the time of that picture -- original config, knobs, etc.? And did you figure out what that serial number meant? I'm thinking I'd like to restore this to its original configuration...the neck is all it will ever be since the truss nut was shorn off...happily it's in a good place, so it's playable... Anyway, just some info for everyone, and a reminder that I'm in the market for an original bridge (6-hole fender type) for this DT155. And depending on the original knobs, I may be in the market for those too (unless they're speed grips -- those sell for too much these days). However, it does look like the same neck plate as the one you posted !! Apparently the Powerocker and the Tek Grip knobs were both introduced in 1984. The SureGrip II knobs first appeared on 1983 models. I have some black SureGrip II's and some Tek Grip's if you're interested. Price negotiable... So I got feedback from the guy selling the marine blue one on eBay now: Serial # K302648 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=019&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT &viewitem=&item=290056428551&rd=1&rd=1 He sent me closeups and it has the suregrips, but here's the interesting thing: the bridge is a 6-hole, and looks old. BUT, its saddles are a strip of metal bent in an S shape, with a hump where the string breaks, and an J up at the back for the bridge screw and spring to go through. What's interesting to me is that the only other place I've seen a bridge like that is on very very recent Fender Mex Strats ('05s and '06s) -- I thought it was a new way to make cheaper bridges. Is it possible that's a stock feature of a 1983/4 Ibanez?? Maybe that correlates to these K30**** serials...bit of a mystery... I may ping you about the suregrips...but they're worth a bit more than I can bring myself to spend on control knobs :-) we'll see... Oh, that also means that now I'm in the market for a few more bits and pieces (as I mangle these instruments): a silver cadet pickguard (the one coming with this SC is not original and doesn't fit properly), and a trem claw (springs are nice but not necessary). I've got this funky black bridge on it now, but it's not a great option -- hard to describe, but basically you can't adjust anything easily. I am also still in the market for a pickguard for the silver cadet...really would like something cheap since the guitar itself is a pile of parts at this point... Cheers all! ltt
