Six, I've owned two ASATS. One was an early model and the other was closer to a Tele. The early one was a great guitar with pickups that were somewhere between a Fender single coil and a P-90. Really ballsy. Wish I hadn't let it go....

Not to me. I was out.

Paul, I twanged a Korean one here a few weeks back. Nice pups but the neck was way too shallow for me. I like the chunky 52 feel. Are the early ones similar to that or just as shallow.

Also, how do I identify an older model and what years are good/not so good?

Sorry Six~ My ASAT Special found a good home...fast!

The handmade pre-BBS models are in demand. They usually have a 3 bolt neck plate and date up to the mid 90's. I'd avoid any of the new Korean 'Tribute' models unless you get to check one out in hand first.

The new US products are partially CNC made but with G&L you can order different neck profiles and radius. So you can get just the type of neck feel/carve/radius/finish you desire.

Cheers Tim. I'll pop over there and have a look. Not surprised it went quick. Stunning looking guitar mate.

Here's a shot of the AR105. This guitar is one bad mother! It is a very recent score and I know she will be missed, but there's another beauty that has caught my fickle eye.
