AS 100 For Sale Mint Condition 1981

Author Message   Kingkongsole Username: Kingkongsole Registered: 09-2006 Posted on Monday, November 27, 2006 - 7:35 pm:    Hey Guys, i'm puting my beatiful, all original, 1981 AS 100 up for sale. it's in pretty much mint condition. as good as you will find anywhere for a 1981. Plays and sounds amazing. Professional setup, perfect neck. My '79 2630/AS200 was the best guitar I ever owned. The 2629/AS100 are less ornate versions. Good luck with the sale.   Kingkongsole Username: Kingkongsole Registered: 09-2006 Posted on Tuesday, November 28, 2006 - 12:15 pm:    it seems that the build quality of this AS100 is right on par with that of my 1979 2630. some of the materials are a little different so the AS100 is a bit lighter weight and more resonant, more like a 335. tone wise this guitar is awesome and keeps right up with the 2630 ever step of the way. the neck is awesome and almost exactly the same as the 2630, perfectly straight and very low action. the birds eye maple all over this guitar is pretty amazing as well.   Acetan Username: Acetan Registered: 09-2003 Posted on Tuesday, November 28, 2006 - 2:53 pm:    I have owned a 2630, an AS50, three AS100's, and two AS200's. All were made between 1978 and 1983. They all have the same high quality. The differences are in the size-AS50, the shape-2630, inlaids and mterials used. I sold my 2630 because of the size & weight. I'm a small guy and I found it to be bottom heavy and somewhat large for me. How about the 2926/AS100? Its a beauty. Birch body and very warm sounding. I prefer it over the 78' 2630 I used to own. It is very comfortable to play and sounds great. I need to extricate one of the small pickup surround screws that is JUST sticking out of the woood... can't grab it... and the pickup surrounds are cracking at the screw corners... I'll have to check for Birdseye though... can't remember if it has the bird... the nut could be raised a tad.. gettin old... Any other comments on these bad boys? Is the burgundy color common or rare... Is sunburst the more common style?
