This is the one. Not the original volumeknobs, and not not the original pu switch. I would rate as a 8.5 / 10. Frets are fine and the guitar is hardly played.
I want to trade cuz I dont like the look of it. A matter of taste. And because I`ve heard the might increase pretty much in value(im afraid to ruin it) . I just want a players guitar. So if you got one with scrathes and stuff, but with no refret job to be done, you can contact me with your offer. Im not looking for strat type guitars. Jazz guitars and LP style guitars are my preferred.

Welcome :-)

Hey Dave. Yes thatit is still a " mystery" to be solved regarding this guitar. From what I`ve been told, they didnt even make this model in 1980..
It is (to the ones considering a swap) an amazing player and super craftmanship on this guitar. I just dont collect and hide it in a corner. I want to play it, and play it rough :-)because : " Im a rough boy.. " :-)It doesnt necessarily have to be an Ibanez , though I really see what topclass Ibanez can do both in playbility, sound, craftmanship and finish. I see on the prices that others have noticed too :-)

Im not looking for a guitar to trash. But if someone has one with some flaws that would make it hard to sell to collectors. Trade it with me. I dont care about unoriginal parts and so on. I have been thinking about selling it, but sometimes you get great offers in trading deals. And Im not going to play live and record with a 200 $ guitar either. I have my beatbox`es already.
So perhaps a swap with some cash involved ? I dont know. I just thought this could be an interesting way to see if something great came along.

Jimih,
You're sorta new here and maybe you haven't figured out we're a decent and honest bunch of collectors. AND we know what something should go for no matter what it's condition.

So my advice to you would be instead of trying to run an eBay style auction where you give us a "starting price" and expect the members to bid and coundterbid (save that for eBay) just state what you want for the instrument out the door...

You'll do a lot better selling the guitar AND getting along.

Well, it is not such a mystery. On ICW there are only production numbers available from 1978 and 1979. But I placed a link to a 1977 catalogue with an Artist 2700 in it a few days ago (it was in a thread about some MC400 or MC500), and discussed the parallels between them with Dave_G.
So we have not all production numbers available at ICW. No info about 1977 and no info about 1980.
But suppose they decided in December 1979 to discontinue the 2700 Artist, what do you think they will do with the half finished products in January 1980? Right: finish and sell them, of course! They don't throw away a good piece of wood ... not at Fuji Gen's. The electronics were still available (they could use the MC400 and MC500 parts).

But as Dave_G said: yours is probably one of the very last and one of the very few in 1980 (perhaps the only one). So it's highly collectible.
The Artist 2700 is NOT in RusselW's database, because it is pretty rare.
If you compare this to the AR100 you are after:

So, it's better to sell it with a good reserve (because it's just after Christmas).
If you want a white guitar that's quite rare, you could ask some pics of that Polar White AM400 with the Seymour Duncans a few threads below this one. It's certainly not worth $2200.- but it's far more interesting than the AR100. Really beautiful. They have only one f-hole and really good guitars. She's still a "minor", but in 2008 she'll be 21. Ask for the original pickups. IMO it's a good investment (but so is your 2700 ARTIST).
And NO, it's not in RusselW's database.

I'd start negotiating on that one. Perhaps you can close a deal and pay when you sold your 2700 Artist. From March on you will get a better price than now!

That's right. Sell when people have money.
Trade when they have none.

There might be someone with money all year around, that wanted to buy it now. From what Ive seen on some of the collections in here, they have the dough.
But still yes I`ll wait. Unless the seriously big wallet is coming up

Nope. I havent got the money. I was told to wait untill march by someone.. Just kidding
And im not totally sure as to what I should go for. I would like a white guitar(but if I get my ultimate guitar . who is thinking about the colour. I even thought about refin my 2700...but hey take it easy. I wont. Im selling it to one of you guys.)

Ive played for 17 years but NEVER thought about what would suit me and my style. Ive just played on what Ive had. Ive had a Roadstar, a Gibson LP custom , a Gibson LP std, several high class Fenders (have one right now In aztec gold finish. Sweet one ) and several other great guitars. But now Ive decided to get more knowledgeable about my playing, my equipment etc. Im not a lead guitarist. A novice would say that I play a mean lead, but I dont. My forte is melodies, strumming and picking.

Don't rush. Your 2700 will only go up.
