Nice guitar, Blues.
Question: until now I believed production started in 1976, since I´ve never seen this model with the open book headstock and I never saw it mentioned in any catalogue or pricelist prior to 1976. Does this beauty have a serial number?
If not, this must be the proof of the fact that production started earlier. Even before Ibanez started using serial numbers in August 1975.

Kind greetz,
Harry

Blues, what happened to the back of the guitar?

Harry,
I think you can find open book headstocks until May 1976, (that goes for the other models), if they had this neck with this headstock and inlays and bindings laying around for a while, they couldn't turn it into the Guild tulip shape headstock any more, because they would have to ad wood to a bound headstock.

I thought they had a flower pot headstock inlay.
The one my friend sold to Kees Dee had, as I remember it, but I'd have to look at the website.
I guess it's still there for 3500 euros.

GUYS,

The piicture of the back/rear has a lot of glare caused by the lighting. The back of the guitar is fine.

Here is a picture of the rear of the headstock.

Wow, September 1976. So they had a few leftovers.

Wow...say that again!

I myself own a les Paul copy with a G 76 and an open book headstock. And until now I never heard of a later ´76 with the old head. So now we have an I 76 number, that´s 2 month later.....
Again a new discovery!
