Well, I have decided to sell one of the sheep from the flock.

What I have is a very rare, highly collectable and well cared for – read excellent condition – 1996 Ibanez 2681 Custom Legend – the Bob Weir model with all the vines and eye candy – and this one is in Antique Violin a very, very rare color. The guitar is located in Cologne, Germany and could be shipped to the US or other European countries.

Full Out

Full with Case

FullBack

These guitars were made for a limited run in the Ibanez Japan factory in the mid 90’s. Most made were in blonde – speak natural ash. These guitars were only sold in Europe and Japan due to the exchange rates at the time – they would have been prohibitively expensive in the United States. This one as you see in the pictures is in Antique Violin – a dark sunburst. According to several reliable collector resources, there were only 25 made in this color as opposed to several hundred in the natural ash. This guitar is so collectable that even Steve Vai – one of the famous Ibanez players and collectors has one locked in a vault in his collection. Check it out at

http://www.vai.com/Machines/guitarpages/guitar088.html

I have only seen 3 of these in my life and I see bunches of cool guitars. This one, the one on Steve Vai’s site and one at a huge guitar store here in Germany with a sign on it “Private Collection – Priceless” This was at Musik Produktiv in Ibbenbueren, Germany. They recently had a major fire in their showroom and I fear the guitar and many other cool instruments were lost

For you Grateful Dead fans, the Bob Weir model was played by Bob for quite some time thoh generally in the natural ash. Once he started shifting to the bigger AR 500/5000 guitars and finally his “Cowboy” guitars (all of course from Ibanez) he really went to the dark Antique Violin finish. I have seen pictures of him playing on of the original issues in this color but I can not seem to find one online.

The guitar was played some during the mid 90’s to early 2000’s by me. I am the second owner – the first being a collector who bought it and almost immediately sold it due to financial problems. I just got lucky. The guitar has minor wear and can be considered in excellent plus condition. There is some minor tarnishing of the gold on the bridge and some minor spots on the pickups. There is also one ding on the front top which can be seen and one on the bottom edge which can not really be seen. These are not in the wood and only in the clear coat and could be polished out by a good luthier. There is nbuckle reas or worming on the back simply some surface scratches.

Bridge

PUs

Ding

The guitar comes with original case in excellent condition. It has some minor dings in the tolex but the stability is like new. There is also the key for the case and a certificate.

Cert

The price is 2400 Euros. I have to fix the price in Euros to avoid big losses on the ever moving dollar. Considering the current prices paid for natural colored guitars in this condition recently, this is a very fair price. Also, looking at the current prices of the Artwood reissues, this is certainly fair and this is actually rarer as far as pure numbers go.

I will ship to the US. It will cost 150 Euros, fully insured. I will accept wire transfer of funds. We can discuss Paypal if we split the costs. I would also accept a certified check or money order sent to a family member of mine in the US.

I can be reached at eshadduck@web.de

I will put any strings on it you like - I set it up with 10s. I left the strings off to see the vines and pickups etc.

There are no strings attached as such.......

If you are interested, mail me......

Is it me eyes playing up again or does this 96' model have a beefed up neck joint compared to the 70's 'smooth heel' version?

My one has the 'step heel' so I can't compare it with this pic.

Six:

We'll never know for sure, until you buy it and compare the neck joint to your "Blue Bomber". :-)

BTW, you're package should be arriving at the end of this week or early next week.

Freak. Yes, I know it's a smooth heel but it looks to be a 'fatter/thicker smooth heel than a 70's.

John. If you recall, the blue bomber is now the Black Mamber.

Package - Okay thanks mate. I will keep my ear out for the Posty on his moped. Let's hope he hasn't smoked it!

Hi - did not get around to putting this on e-bay. Thought I would actually play it but it has been out of the case once. I will put it up for sale in one week or so. Have another member interested but he has not yet come up with the cash (he will get first dibs until the end of the month as I am a man of my word) so if there are interests, I will start it at 1800.00 Euros plus shipping plus PayPal (steep for the US guys since the dollar has gone belly up). It is a rare piece and should be where it is enjoyed. Living in the case is not for this baby......grab it while you can. E-Mail me with offers on eshadduck@web.de
