Sounds like I had the exact guitar. Purchased in the late 70's . Like an idiot , I let it go to a kid down the street who wanted to learn to play. He is long since gone and the only thing left of the guitar is memories. All maple body AND neck and fretboard. In retrospect, the cooooooolest looking acoustic I've seen. DOOOOOOGH!!!

I am in fact selling one with a maple neckon ebay. It's got some scratches and minor fretwear, but okay overall for a '80. Here's a picture:

Last night I bought a M-340 from the original owner, the serial number is J780709 so that makes it a late '78 model I guess? The finish is all blonde, and the neck, etc looks to be maple. I'm not an expert on identifying woods so I plan on taking it to a reputable shop, etc.

It looks to have spent most of its life in the case, one small flaw on the body but otherwise a 9.5 out of 10.

Just curious, what you guys think this guitar is worth? I want to make sure I didn't overpay..

Thanks

I also have a M340 with a maple neck and fretboard. Bought new in 1980. 25 yrs old and still near mint. I don't know what they are worth, but I know I would not sell mine. Very bright articulate sounding acoustic. My only complaint with it is that the clear finish on the fretboard is much too thick.

I have a mint M340 from 1981. Flame maple, spruce top, maple neck. I am the original owner, and this axe hasn't seen the light of day in 15 years. I am playing it now, and except for a fret polishing, is just like new. This is a very bright acoustic, and the neck is a bit chunky for my liking, but it sure is purdy.

I'm now the proud owner of Claytonroy's very nearly mint '78 M-340.
It's as described in VG guide. It's totally maple except for the bridge which is ebony. Even the fingerboard is maple. To me it looks like a laminate top. Sounds pretty huge.
