Probably another dumb question but, I have seen an '86 Acoustic described as being "Spruce top; Rosewood fretboard & Nato neck and sides. To CSI merchants , I am mearly trying to generalise in laymens terms thank you ! It is a value-priced wood used more for beginner instruments. However, it still embodies all of the properties of more commonly used mahogany" Then there are also other explanations and a synonym "natyah". These interesting sentences popped up: "Softer hardwoods such as nato, mahogany, walnut, koa and maple are excellent and less expensive alternatives to rosewood. Hardwood veneers are used in the back and sides of most guitars costing under $2000. Hardwood veneers have 95% of the musical properties of solid hardwood but are stronger, less prone to cracking and relatively inexpensive."
